• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Do you believe in the power of prayer? REALLY believe? Or do you just pay it lips service? Do you believe it is REALLY important, and in fact a command of God? Here is a challenge for you and/or your church/sunday school class.

Go to the Hospital(s) in your area and speak to the adminstrator. Inquire what you might be allowed to do in that Hospital, insofar as ministering to the sick in prayer.

You may be allowed to wander from room to room (with some obvious restrictions) or you may not (in some cases). You may in fact be allowed to obtain a printed list of the patients there are at least a partial list.

Perhaps, if nothing else you may take this list to the Chapel and pray for thses people on an individual list or perhaps a group of you may lay hands on the list and pray.

If the Hospital has a Chaplain, discuss this, with him/her and go from there. But one thing is for sure. Here in America we are free to go to a Hospital and pray, whether in the Chapel or in the Lobby or in individual rooms or where ever is available to us.

I challenge you to pursue this and see what happens when you combine the prayers from your heart with the best, medicine has to offer!

Then post your results here so that others may be encouraged and join you in the rejoicing I know lies ahead for you.

Perhaps this could grow into an organized effort sponsored, so to speak, by CF. Their could be prayer cells operationg all over America nd throughout the World. There could be a special Forum just for this effort and posting results for rejoicing and encouraging others.

Nice challenge Gerry, Hospitals are a place where God can realy use us, and also a place where He most certainly displays His work. When I went to visit my Dad while he was in the VA hospital, I couldn't help but feel a longing in my heart to reach out to many that were there. And while there are no hospitals in close proximity to where I live, I feel maybe God is using this challenge to show me how I will be able to do this soon. My husband plans to retire in less than a year, we hope to acquire a motor home and travel around, and I have been wondering how while traveling I can be of more service to God and use it as an opportunity to do His work. Now I can see this is one place He will be able to use me. Since there are hospitals all over the place.

Even though my husband isn't saved yet, I am sure he will be, as on our last visit to the hopistal, it was the Hospital chaplain that recognized my husband. My husband later joked about how the one person who recognized him was the chaplain, and I just chuckled and told him that God must realy want him! Not only that but the chaplain had been assigned the exact same floor my Dad was on. I know God was moving that day in more ways than one, and still continues to do so.

I realize that there is a certain "shunning" process going on here but it has gone to the point now of absurdity. My heart breaks for misguided Christians who think they do God some sort of service by failing to obey His simpilest commands.

Asf for the Hospitals, Yeah, it is a REAL ministry that goes begging. I know many people claim they believe in the power of prayer but either they do not or they have a heart condition. The condition being hard and cold.

But you are right. It would be awesome to do while traveling. Another thing that is cool is to use one of the comic type tracts. There are some really good and powerful ones out there. Leave them any and every where, and people will pick them up and read them. They are irresistible. And when you but them in bulk they are much cheaper.

I hate to go on a trip anywhere if I am out of tracts and in fact now, I just won't go. I leave them in Restroom, gas pump handles, restaurants, pay phones, well just every where.

But to pray for the sick is a ministry with it's own rewards. It would seem to me that all Christians would be thrilled to do it.

The power of prayer is an amazing thing! Not only should we pray for those who are sick in the hospital but also the Doctors, Nurses, etc...

Here's an example of how God answered a recent prayer for someone I don't even know, nor have ever met before. My mom had asked me to pray for the Mother of a friend of hers, who had just gone into the hospital. She apparently didn't think God would forgive her for something in her past. My Mom had given her friend a scripture to pray with her Mother, and I started praying for her, My prayer was that God would hold her in the same way he had recently done with me. The feeling of being held in Gods Love is unexplainable, But when you feel it you know it is him who is holding you. The next day my Mom called me, she had heard from her friend, and her friends Mom was going around the hospital telling everyone that Jesus had forgiven her, and that she knew it because He had held her in his arms, after they had prayed. The nurses thought she was crazy, but the rest of us know different :)

AMEN! I LOVE these stories! As a Christian I know that when you are in full time service to Him, and do "radical things". like pray for people, pass out tracts to strangers, and even preach on a street, you are definitely considered to be some kind of a nut! Well, at least by all except the one who winds up at the Feet of Jesus as a result of your efforts.

What a thrill it will be to fellowship in Heaven with all those "Nuts", and crazy people like the Lady you mentioned.
