yes, but it ISN'T just one guy... ask mathew shepherd.

Do you see any of us saying we should drag homosexuals by our Car?

If so, I will join you in condemning them, but I havn't seen that from anyone here at CF/4u

WEell, theres a few around who seem pretty lukewarm in their condemnation of people like Phelps et al... however, my point stands... why do so many people think it is right and proper to fire up the ol' internets and blast away at evil homosexuals, because of their percieved sins, yet I have never seen a blog about the evils of eating shellfish or wearing undies with elastic? They are JUST as condemned in the exact same chapter...

Ol' internet, that is really ironic. (sorta)

The Jews were not allowed to eat snakes and pigs but that was cast out when they flew in on that rug. (Anyone know were that story is at? I am having a heck of a time finding it.) All sexual perversion is still outlawed though, directly and implicitly.

...the word tow'ebah in Leviticus, does not mean "sexual perversion", it means ritual/ceremonial impurity. It was a Canaanite idolatry/prostitution ritual, not the sex act itself being condemned.

So the ritual was homosexual sex, or it's not homosexual sex at all?
The ritual combined an idolatry sex practice to a false God, hence the ritual is being condemned, not the sex act by the Hebrew translated word.

Mathew Shepherd was killed while trying to turn tricks (offering drugs for sex). He left with two men to have sex with them.

Sure, it was wrong he was murdered because he gropped that guy, but can't you all find a more worthy poster child ?

Wow.

Blame the victim award or what? Its not about finding a poster child, its about pointing out the disgusting way some people treat homosexuals, masked behind Christians righteousness.

I died a little inside when I read your post, I truly did.

So how would you translate that verse since it's not man lying with a man as he would with a woman?

Ishida is right. Although toevah refers to a cultic taboo, the ban itself does not mention either idolatry or prostitution.

Many of the bans in this section of Leviticus (the Holiness Code) are of things that are morally neutral in themselves, but that God is using to teach His people about Holiness. It is toevah because God has decreed that His Holy people shall live differently from the Goyim, the Nations.

But the Gentiles are not bound by the Holiness Code. Not even the so-called "righteous Gentile" who is called to worship the God of Israel, but not to become one of the Children of Israel.(see, for example, the story of Naaman [2 Kings 5, especially verse 18])

And Christians, whether they were Jews or Gentiles before are specifically loosed from the Holiness Code bans.

Victim ?

If I went to a bar and left with someone and was robbed and murdered because I foolishly chose the wrong person to offer to exchange sex for drugs... I would not expect too much empathy for my actions. I would expect my family to be ashamed. I would not expect to be held up to the world as a victim of a hate crime.

It is my recollection that the murderers have since admited that they knew exactly who and what Matthew was. That he did not proposition them and that they robbed and murdered him because they thought that the Colorado authorities would not persue the case of a dead homosexual very diligently.

I need to do some research to verify this, however.

The only reasonable explanation I have seen is because of it being a ritual practice that included only men with men in an idolatry practice within the Canaanite religion. It does not mention idolatry, but it does define a ritual impurity. That word does refer to a ceremonial violation, does it, not? There isn't any verse in that chapter that condemns female to female sexual activity. The following verse says that a man shall not lie with a beast, nor shall a woman lie with a beast. This would make sense, as women didn't have sexual relations with women in the Canaanite idolatry practices.
