  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Although I answered 'daily,' on a purely practical level I think that would present some logistical difficulties for me, as my husband and I have only one vehicle. But hey, I'm blue-skying here, so why not say what I think I would really like? :)

Although I would very much appreciate an opportunity to receive Holy Communion daily, at this point I would be grateful to be able to receive it weekly, as our church only offers the opportunity once a month. Actually, I've pretty much decided to try to commune at an Episcopal church on the days we don't have Holy Communion (in addition to attending our own services, of course.)

I'm jealous of the Catholics with their daily masses. Sigh...

Your sister in Christ,
Grace

I was going to say the same thing! I'd love to have communion daily, but not sure that would work logistically. I think once a month is not enough, and would love to participate in communion once weekly. Good poll!

I'd like for Communion to be served during the Sunday morning service. When I was stationed in Korea, we had an Episcopal Chaplain who served communion after every chapel service. It added greatly to the worship service.

I've never seen Communion served weekly in the Church of the Nazarene. Our manual says we should serve Communion at least once a quarter. The church I attend now serves Communion once a month.

My own church has it a bit more often than monthly...every 2-3 weeks would be pretty accurate. Weekly would be lovely. Wesley took communion daily, as herev said (he's so smart ;) )...but there'd be logistics issues for us, too.

You can't give yourself communion, can you? LOL, I mean Wesley did, but he was a priest and all. I just don't know.

Well it sounds like the majority of us would like communion more often than what the UMC as a whole serves communion. My question is, what do we do about it? :) Maybe we could get together petitions and send them to our regional bishops?
