A poem...

I wrote this a couple weeks ago about my life with my husband...and wanted to share with you.


Defeat of the Devil...

The devil's knocking at my door
He's hanging around for something more

His tongue cuts and slices like a sword
Playing games with no care for the Lord

He's provoking me now, but I won't give in
I've got my Saviour who won't let him win.

I've been abused for too many years
The Lord's taking control to ease my fears

I still struggle to tame this great beast
But by mercy I'm given comfort and peace

My choices are difficult and make me feel sad
But I look to my God, and he takes my hand

He leads me out of this misery and pain
Knowing that I've got his Kingdom to gain.

I'm listening now, and I'm walking tall
No more denial, I'm not going to fall

Thank you, dear God, for all that you've done
I praise You my Lord in the name of Your Son...

I get that pain! My hubby is the hardest man to listen to. He is a verbal nuclear dump of anger and complaint and saying the negative about anything.

I have the hardest time NOT becoming him. I used to keep quiet for years and years...now, he hurts so much, I get to hollering at him. I know that the enemy loves when I fall in to it , too. I pray that I won't, but he doesn't quit until I do. He WANTS me to become like him, so he can say that I talk bad now. He will needle me for hours and his hatred is thick and black and ugly and poison.

He is hard to listen to every day. He only gets really bad in spells. He sounds JUST like my mother-in-law when she's drinking, once he starts. He doesn't have to drink to do it. In fact, my husband hardly ever drinnks. Very seldom.
No one on the whole planet ever treats me the way he does. No one in my realm of life causes me to talk poorly...never even close. Well, I'll hurl some curses when I am frustrated with a thing into the air...but, not in any fight or conversation with anyone. He takes actual pride in being the one person who pushes me into anger.

God Bless you for being able to write sweet thoughts in response. I can only be really peaceful and creative when he is completely silent or not around.
