Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hello everyone. I have a plea/proposal for everyone on here.

I say we make this forum a SUPPORT forum for military members and their loved ones, not a debate forum. The military provides enough stress and sacrifices to the everyday lives of its members and those who love them, the last thing we need is to deal with a headache coming in here because someone wants to argue U.S. policy towards the military, which we have no say in anyways. I do not think that this is an appropriate place for that kind of discussion. This should be a forum where people can come, relax, and find comfort and support from others who are going/have went through similar situations.

All those in favor, give us a thumbs up.

It's amazing that you made this thread. I was thinking the EXACT same thing about an hour before I saw this thread.

PRAY FOR THE TROOPS!

I was thinking about it also. And I definitely agree -- pray for the troops.

While I agree that we need a Military forum purely for support the biggest issue for this forum is that anti Military posts are allowed here and are tolerated while us speaking against those views are punished. If it's going to be a Military board for Military members and their families then anti Military dribble should now be allowed here and we shouldn't be subjected to it let alone forced to tolerate it.

It should be like the Congregational forums FOR Military and their families, but open to those who want to fellowship and pray for you.

your are so right on ALL counts. theres even a sticky posted by daveleau (a former Mod - I wish he was still Modding this site) about this forum and if even that simple sticky was enforced, it would be a help. but alas, it aint....:sigh:

Maybe another military section should be opened in the CO section, so we can have a prayer and support section in the CO portion of the forums and keep this one a debate style thread.

Or how about, since this is under the subcategory of "Professions," we DON'T keep this a debate style thread. I take it that this subcategory is for people of similar professions kick back and bond. Sure a little debate about small things is fine, like whose uniform looks cooler, but when it comes to, like ChristianMilitaryWife said, blatant military bashing, it should not be approved at all.

From daveleau's sticky:

"Please note that any discussion of justification of military actions/ political aspects of military actions are to be done in the Political forums and discussion of the Christian ethic of military service/action should be discussed in General Theology or Congregational forum."

oh I see - so guys like me who are not christian cannot post there and post with other military members/dependants/veterans who are proud of their honorable service. nice try - thanfully I seriously doubt that it would even be considered.

As far as "keep this a debate style thread" - here's heads' up for you - this aint the debate area. no debating is allowed in this section of CF. the superviosor of this section even posted in a now closed thread that THERE IS NO DEBATING here in this section of CF.

there was a Mod who stated the our[pose of this seciton a while back in the sticky at miltiary section page:

Here is the link to the sticky: http://www.christianforums.com/t1149651-purpose-of-the-cf-military-forum-17-sep-05.html

and to assist further, heres what it sais:

Purpose of the CF Military Forum (17 Sep 05)

Hello and welcome to the Military forum!

This is a forum designed mainly for Military and their Spouses, yet we do welcome others to discuss information and fellowship with those defending our great nations.

Please note that any discussion of justification of military actions/ political aspects of military actions are to be done in the Political forums and discussion of the Christian ethic of military service/action should be discussed in General Theology or Congregational forum.

God bless,
Dave

kinda keeps it simple, dont it?

In the debate section (where debates are allowed), there is a folder called Politics that you might find plenty of support in your views of the miltiary and its members. just a helpful suggestion.:)

This is suppose to be a SUPPORT fora for those who are serving, have served, are about to serve - help, assist, support, ENCOURAGE, strengthen, uplift. is suppose to be.

it has always been my impressionthat this site was NOT for tearing down, attack, demean, belittle, besmirch, smear, run down, antagonize, be divisive, subvert, inflame, bait, bring contention, promote anymosity and anger, hatefull, maliscious, lying, etc etc etc.

at some point, I keep hoping that someone will step in and realize, "oh hey! this aint the political debate section but the military SUPPORT section and the people in it need SUPPORT, not continual condemnation!" and it not be another fora here at CF to be attacked for serving.

I have another veteran sitting next to me who spoke of , "Saving other people's bacon and getting attacked for it..." I like the idea that we keep this for encourgaing people in the forces. Might I say that I thnk things are goig to get longer and harder, and we can all do with a bit of encouragement.

A PRAYER-THREAD would be fantastic. In Cape Town for at least since WW2, there was the noon-day gun. It was on a hill and fired at noon each day. During the war years, every citizen would stop and keep a two minute silence - praying for the troops. I think even traffic came to a halt. 6 gruelling years, and the citizens met and prayed.

I think that is a great idea as long as you keep out the one sided debate threads and keep it only encouragement.

Maybe a section should be added under the debate forum for military like it is under professions. Because the "military" goes beyond just a profession such as a truck driver etc, there is alot of controversy with the military..

In that case, ask mods to open up a thread for military debate, but don't bring it in here.
