Divide the Bible in:

1 Genesis, Isaiah, Romans
2 Exodus, Jeremiah, 1 Corinthians
3 Leviticus, Lamentation, 2 Corinthians
4 Numbers, Ezekiel, Galatians
5 Deuteronomy, Daniel, Ephesians
6 Joshua, Hosea, Philippians
7 Judges, Joel, Colossians
8 Ruth, Amos, 1 Thessalonians
9 1 Samuel, Obediah, 2 Thessalonians
10 2 Samuel, Jonah, 1 Timothy
11 1 Kings, Micah, 2 Timothy
12 2 Kings, Nahum, Titus
13 1 Chronicles, Habakkuk, Philemon
14 2 Chronicles, Zepheniah, Hebrews
15 Ezra, Haggai, James
16 Nehemiah, Zechariah, 1 Peter
17 Esther, Malachi, 2 Peter
18 Job, Matthew, 1 John
19 Psalms, Mark, 2 John
20 Proverbs, Luke, 3 John
21 Ecclesiastes, John, Jude
22 Song of Solomon, Acts, Revelation

Or Read chapters and/or verses:
1,23,45... (skip of 22)

Elijah and #11 and #17
These two numbers, 11 and 17 have close relations with the mentioning of Elijah.

His first appearance is the 11th book 1 Kings 17:1.
Other 11s are:
Romans 11, Revelation 11 (his name isn't mentioned but his kind of miracles are there).
Matthew 11 identifying Elias (Greek form of Elijah) with John the Baptist, who came in the spirit of Elijah.

And 17:
Matthew 17 (At the transfiguration), James 5:17, Malachi 4 (the 17th prophetic book from Isaiah)

This is not to say that he ONLY appears in those numbers, but that those are common with the name Elijah.

Notice that Romans 11 and Revelation 11 and 11th Book 1 Kings mentions "7000 men". Romans and 1 Kings 19 have almost similar wording "who have not bowed their knees to Baal". But Revelation says 7000 people died and the rest believed in God. Revelation and Romans mention about the olive tree.

Though that may be good for some, I think it would confuse me! I do better if I couple OT books with other books that are on the same time-line. For instance, Jonah was written during 2 Chronicles, so when the Assyrians are attacking the Northern Kingdom, and Jonah was sent to tell the same Assyrians to repent, it's along the same time-line.

That just helps it all click better for me.

You have the right to do so, since that way you'll get good historical view at it. But the reason I had pointed that out is because there are similar themes or comparative, phrases, words that reoccur. Take Genesis 26 and book 26, Hosea. "go get unto thee a wife" (I don't know if if word for word, but the theme is there).

Or "a father of many nations" are found only in Genesis 17:4 and Romans 4:17. I think we can agree that both are on the same subject.

Number is book #4, and goes by the first word for the title in Hebrew, "Bmidbar", "In the wilderness". Both in Numbers and the 4th prophetic book, Ezekiel God judges Israel and Judah "each day for a year" (nowhere else found). I think this is significant with the #4 because the 4th Day was the creation of the sun, moon and stars, for what purpose? For 4 reasons "for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:"

Coming back to "in the wilderness" and the #4, Matthew and Luke 4 open their topic on Jesus in the wilderness, for 40 days (as 40 was significant both in Numbers and Ezekiel, where it said "Each day for a year"). I suppose Israel being a type of Jesus failed, but Jesus fulfilled. So the firstborn national son of God has to be "in Christ" to receive God's blessings. Jesus had said that they will not see him until they say "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord".

Hello Bible Wheel,

Genesis 17:4 and Romans 4:17

Do the chapter and verse numbers seem significant to you? If so, why is that? Do you believe the chapter and verse numbers are divinely inspired?
