In about two weeks the High Council will meet to elect a New General.

First of all I'm sure you will all want to keep them in your prayers, that the Holy Spirit might work through them to elect the right person to the post.

Secondly. any gossip (yes I know it's a sin, but lets have some fun anyway) on who the next general might be?

Anybody got a preferred candidate ? (I vote Abiel - and yes she could. The rules just state that the candidate must be an officer, not a commissioner).

Would you like to see another female General, or a black General, or a general from a particular part of the world?

Or do you simply not care?

Should the General be elected for a longer or shorter time than at present.

Should the 'rank and file' have the vote?

And any other thoughts you might have

I'm not convinced I have lobbied hard enough to get the necessary 3 votes to get the call!

How about a MARRIED female General??

The only goss I know is that the UK TC is not a prefered candidate among UK salvos. I was at a meeting on Thursday, at which it was suggested that a more suitable process would be a phone vote system. 50p a call in the funds, something like 'I'm a commissioner- get me out of here!' or 'Salvo Big Brother' or best of all 'Strictly Come-ishoners Dancing' !

I want a General with passion and one who is not afraid to throw out the bathwater, whilst holding onto the baby.

I'm too interested in having a God-ordained General to have any other preferences. :p

But since we're at it, how about married, black, born in Africa, raised in Asia, and currently residing somwhere in South America? ^_^

How freaked am I gonna be if it turns out I just described the next General!

Latest goss on the new general.

Acdcording to a Colonal of my aqauintance, the favoutite for the top post is the current Chief of Staff, Commissioner Isreal L. Gaither.

As a black American he would appeal to many people on the council.

Apparently he is a very Bible based, stright from the shoulder type os officer.

He is considered a very strong candidate and probably the one most likely to be elected.

If this were to happen, the current UK TC is possibly in line to be the next Chief of Staff. However, by the time the nerw general has served his (or her) five years in office, Commisioner Clifton will probably be too old for the top post.

I've also heard this after he was recently in Australia. I got to hear him speak as well...and he is definitely who I would like to be the new General!

But then i also don't know the other one you said that well...so I'm biased in a way.

There is also a female Commissioner from Canada (can't recall her name) who could be in the running, but does not have very good relations with some of the American Commissioners, which may have an adverse effect on her cause.

Not that there is ever any lobbying in the Council:eek:

Heaven forbid;)

Is that Linda Burns? I have heard a lot of good stuff about her

That's her.

Not exactly sure what is going on, but apparently she does not have the support of the American Commisioners and that is likely to be a big factor.
