It's sad that you have such a low opinion of staff, I don't know a single person on staff who thinks that being a mod makes them important or better than anyone else.

I've seen several in this thread alone.....and yes it is sad

15While Jesus was having dinner at Levi's house, many tax collectors and "sinners" were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. 16When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the "sinners" and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: "Why does he eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?"

Ahhh that question seems familiar, somehow.....

9As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector's booth. "Follow me," he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him. 10While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew's house, many tax collectors and "sinners" came and ate with him and his disciples. 11When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?"
12On hearing this, Jesus said, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. 13But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.'[a] For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

He calls a sinner into his service, and he eats with sinners.

16"To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others:
17" 'We played the flute for you,
and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge
and you did not mourn.' 18For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon.' 19The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and "sinners." ' But wisdom is proved right by her actions."
The Bible also says I am not to cast my pearls among swine either.

How can you possibly know what the majority thinks?
I am on here almost everyday, and I pay attention.

I also know common trends in my country, but I don't interview every person.

Most mods will stay mods (if they choose). The majority will respect them for there previous position. Of course there will be a few with grudges, but my goodness, you couldn't of made a grudge with that many people. No one is going to vote a mod out unless they deserve it. Notice I said vote a mod out. That is my stance. Don't put them all out and start a new vote, then of course it will turn into a disaster.

But keep the mods here and only replace those that the majority of the site disapprove of, which Erwin will end up doing.

No site is 100% Christian. No church is 100% Christian. This site is still keeping its core values. The majority of this site, are true Christians. Erwin knows this, and trusts that the votes will represent that.
Unfortunately, I am no so optimistic.

I would show love to the non-Christian, but I wouldn't let him pastor the church or give me ideas on how to run the run. The fool says in his heart, there is no God. I don't want fools running the show.

I myself have donated hundreds of dollars to CF and have given close to a year in mod service. I would hope Erwin cared about my opinion at least a little bit. I'm not trying to say I'm above someone or special, but without our support and our work, there would be no CF.
What about all the members who have given money and time and sweat - and who have served as mods in the past - what about how our voices have been shut out before this? The DR forum was pretty one sided and now it's closed. Where were you when that was being done? We all want our opinions heard - AND GUESS WHAT :) we can now ALL have our opinions heard - and they will be heard on equal footing. :) Staff will no longer be able to hide behind seekrit forums saying one thing to the members face and another where the members cannot see - or just ignoring the members all together.

LOOK - most of the membership of this forum are CHRISTIANS - of the Nicene type. MOST of the Chirstians here conservative - why on earth do you think the over all flavor of the site will change????

1Now the tax collectors and "sinners" were all gathering around to hear him. 2But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them." 3Then Jesus told them this parable: 4"Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.' 7I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

Please hear my heart when I say this.... I don't intend to minimialize your feelings in any way, shape or form...nor do I desire to in anyway not express my thoughts in anything but love and appreciation toward you as my brother in Christ!

HOWEVER... "thank yous" are overrated and often glib. Mothers can tell you that most jobs worth their time and effort are the ones most often overlooked when it comes around to receiving a "thank you".

I go back to my original thought on this matter. If your service has been unto the Lord, your reward is in laying your crown at His feet... Hearing HIM say "well done good and faithful servant" will be so much better than what Erwin or any man, woman, boy or girl on this site could ever express!!!!
Having been a mod myself at About.com, I can personally attest to the power of a simple and heart-felt "thank you". It's amazing what it does for you, it reminds you why you do what you do in the first place. It's to help people. 99% of my job entailed dealing with people, who were for the most part ungrateful. Because all people ever do is come to you with their complaints and problems and are never fully satisfied with anything you do. Unless you've been a mod, you just don't know what it's like. It's a hard, tiring and mostly thankless job. I sincerely don't wish it upon anyone.

I am reposting my thoughts.... I still keep hearing the same thing.... "I have given this... I have put in this many hours....I'm not giving another dime...."

I am so thankful Jesus didn't take this attitude when considering the cross in Gethsemene knowing how many times I would be ungrateful for His sacrifice...

The Bible also says I am not to cast my pearls among swine either.

You are to follow the example of Jesus in the New Testament if you are a Christ-follower.

How can you all read those scriptures and then tell me it is God's will that we remain isolated?

That is what the Pharisees wanted.

This shows a major misunderstanding of how the site will be run. It will no longer be run be secret tribunals and governed from an ivory tower. It will be run by the membership with staff having more of a janitorial role. Even reports will be discussed by the public. Staff won't be running the site at all. Non-Christians won't be running the show. TrueChristians™ won't be running the show. It will be run by the membership. Staff won't be a leadership position at all. That's the way it should be.
