• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A new CF, an old vision

If only that rule had been in since the start of CF. It certainly doesn't work well without it

You are the rare type of non-Christian who signs up to post here, though. I have appreciated your posts and avoidance of confrontation, but you are very much a minority.

There is already places to do it Leanna

Or perhaps this is not of God.
Your angry and agitated spirit is not a dwelling place for the Holy Spirit. Your human emotions are going to be an influence with anything you say on here. Do you really trust yourself that much?

But must Truth be sacrificed for unity? Must the cross be traded in for an opportunity to sit down and be insulted by an Atheist?

Didn't Paul say stay with like-minded people?

And now we must cast out the woman who brought Christ into the world?

You know, maybe you've got a point. Maybe I should consider the same for myself. After all, I can find plenty of atheist sites; why should I stay here and risk having the Christians insult me. I know they can do it, too; I've had many Christians do so in the past. I've had them tell me I'm a cold-hearted [expletive] who should burn in Hell, I've had them tell me they're praying for disaster and pain in my life, I've had them call me a fool and swine... shall I go on?

But those people weren't you. They weren't the people here, in this thread, that I'm dealing with right now, and I will do my best to not judge or reject you based on how other Christians have treated me. Instead, I'll risk getting hurt again, participate at forums with Christians, and try to see them as people, as individuals, rather than as simply Christians to be mistrusted and reviled.

Part of what I'm hoping for in these reforms is that opening up the CO sections might allow others to see me the same way.

As someone who currently runs a site setup this way I posit that you are dead wrong. Sure there are nasty bits but the good outweighs the bad any day. And this site wil have rules. That much is clear. It will not be anarchy.

Agreed.

As an Admin of another site which has very similar rules, I can say that there will be some turmoil (especially at the beginning), but not lawless ravaging in the streets.

It can work, and it can work well. Very well.

AMEN!!!!!!!! AMEN!!!!!!!!!! AMEN!!!!!!!!!!

And if an atheist would like to disagree with the worthiness of the Lamb of God, that is within his rights....after all, God himself gave Adam and Eve the very same right in the garden and they made the mistake of disagreeing. Why do we set ourselves up as better than God and judging whom we will associate with and allow to even moderate our discussions? I can think of one other who made that choice and you know his fate in the end..........

Truth can't be traded, it IS and always will BE. Nothing is being traded, we don't own it, to trade it. Christ unified with sinners, and died for them... The least we can do is let them talk with us in our little forum.

I don't think others will see the same way. When people are angry at God, they remain in that anger, usually, their whole lives.

It is different to be called _____ by an Atheist than from a Christian. What hurts more is when the Atheist does so because usually it is because of being Christian.

"I do not believe Erwin's vision for CF is to make it seeker-friendly... however, I do believe his vision is to make it finder friendly. Jesus' whole goal was to seek and save that which was lost.... why would we not invite the harvest here?"

Because what you see as a potential harvest, the non-believing crowd, a good portion of them, not all of them, I believe are going to eat Christians like ravenous wolves and spit them out. Some atheists and agnostics live for this, not all but some.

"What a tremendous opportunity lays before us!!"

Good luck with it and bring your "A" game, cuz these people are gonna bring theirs. As hard as you try to convert them to Christianity, they are going to try equally hard to deconvert Christians and show them why Christianity is just plain foolish and stupid. Have you read any of the popular atheist authors of today? Dawkins? Harris? Hitchens? They've read our book, the Bible. Have you read any of theirs? Just out of curiosity. If this turns into what I think it's gonna turn into, you'd best be prepared.

"This isn't a church. It isn't an organized "religion"... it is an opportunity to talk and debate and have iron sharpen iron... and praise God for the thought that we could help someone find a true relationship with Christ!!!"

I do love your optimism. It brings back memories.

The Bible also says I am not to cast my pearls among swine either.

I would show love to the non-Christian, but I wouldn't let him pastor the church or give me ideas on how to run the run. The fool says in his heart, there is no God. I don't want fools running the show.

My dear Christian neighbors,

I resolve not to cast personal insults against you in any forum on this site. Will you resolve likewise towards me?

That is what I'm thinking.

Just like the Reformation and the Enlightenment. Both are so-called "goods" but are really "bads".
You think the Reformation is not of God? There is no point in discussing with you any further, unless you are just uneducated and are an eager and patient learner. You have a very biased attitude that goes against the foundation of this site and the majority of it's beliefs. I love the EO, I don't say their way is "bad", unlike you just have said all of protestants. I don't appreciate that. I forgive you though, on account that it is my responsibility through Christ and the fact that you are young and immature.

What were you taught when (trying to phrase this correctly) you became a Christian? You were taught what Christ had done. And if from a liturgical Church background, you were taught the faith of your fathers and forefathers.

All that is being traded. Dumped out would be more accurate. The precious Eucharist is being thrown on the ground and spat upon and no one cares.
