Not surprising, really. Most of the membership wanted a Christian forum. It will be interesting to see what replaces CF.
Goodbye all!
I think that the the new regime offers a solution to get a closure for those who have been severely hurt by the carryings on of the former regime. It is not asking much that the stigma of the sins of others may be lifted once and for all instead of thoose things being continually hid behind the cloud of secrecyIf there will now be open moderation and everything public - why do we need to parade out the old crap? I'm sure that plenty of people have copies of the juicy bits should things not turn out well.
No doubt there will be growing pains, but in the long run I feel that it will help a Christian's walk with the Lord more than hinder as CF was doing previously. That's just my opinion though.I agree. I know I'm young and don't know anything, but I can't see how this is going to be anything but disastrous. I hope and pray I will be proven wrong. I will go along with whatever the rules are here on CF. But non-Christians being on staff is simply a recipe for disaster.
Am I understanding this correctly? It seems to me that Erwin and staff no longer want to be the police, and now want us to police ourselves. Am I wrong? I hope so. Because someone once said "self-government is impossible without self-discipline". Christians base their morality on God while non-Christians base morality on self. How can there be any correlation on right and wrong when you have both Christians and non-Christians on staff?
Again, I hope I am wrong about all of this.
Lol ok... that sounds a bit betterNot as pastors, let me clarify, but as moderators. They know Scripture as well as the rest of us, especially Garnet and they are very fair minded. They have common sense too and a sense of humor.

absolutely! One thing Dr. Loh mentioned that has been overlooked: He hopes to see a culture change at CF.
Folks, we need to grow up and stop acting like junior high school students with our little cliques and silly exclusion rules. It is time to act like adults.
Of course he has a knife, he always has a knife, we all have knives! It's 1183 and we're barbarians! How clear we make it. Oh, my piglets, we are the origins of war: not history's forces, nor the times, nor justice, nor the lack of it, nor causes, nor religions, nor ideas, nor kinds of government, nor any other thing. We are the killers. We breed wars. We carry it like syphilis inside. Dead bodies rot in field and stream because the living ones are rotten. For the love of God, can't we love one another just a little - that's how peace begins. We have so much to love each other for. We have such possibilities, my children. We could change the world. The Lion In Winter
That's not what staff has been told. Staff has been told that their primary job is Christian ministry.
I was referring to the comment that there were three Athiests the member knew who would be good pastors. A comment which she has since clarified. I am not implying that moderators are pastors. However we have been told in the past that Erwin felt that our primary role was as Christian ministers. I guess that is no longer true.Hon I don't know if you're around these parts much, but I have never seen a moderator as a pastor ..... what pastoral things do they do? Rebuke?
Steve,
I think this is hilarious coming from you.One thing Dr. Loh mentioned that has been overlooked: He hopes to see a culture change at CF.

I know you don't agree - but for pete's sakes - let things get spelled out and written down before you start harping and finding fault. Things are not perfect, they are not going to be perfect. BESIDES - Erwin did not say that everyone who claims to be a Christian IS - only that we would allow them to call themselves Christian if they like. I certainly hope that if that is the case there will no longer be a rule that says we cannot call them non-Christian or heretic anymore as well.
I'm sorry what was it I was confused about?FYI when I am warned for doing something small and not even wrong, it was NOT ministry. If anything during my agnostic days it made me roll my eyes at the legalism of "Christian ministry." I came back to Jesus in spite of the Christians here not because of them. (not all, some of you I love) You want to win people for Christ, that was surely not the way. Sorry that you were confused!!
There's a difference between a person who respectfully disagrees, and then one who belittles like the personality you are describing. But it isn't a question of compassion...?
Hopefully, there will be very few rules to even adhere to, but am speaking specifically of people who are well-liked within their own circle, but scornful of faith.
It's not about how compassionate or honest they are, cos many theists are lacking in both.
But if someone thinks Christianity is "delusional" and "for stupid people" - terms that have cropped up in GA *repeatedly*, I don't think someone with those views should be in a leading role within a Christian environment.
