I don't get it either....seems they are just looking for an argument and could find one here.

Some have a genuine interest in finding out about different cultures, traditions, religions, and beliefs.

We've got to remember about 1/3 of the world is Christian - that means 2/3 isn't. Many have grown up in a culture where Christianity simple wasn't taught - or even where it may have been a criminal act to be Christian.

Many people look not at faith, but instead at other people's actions, to determine who they want to have contact with. That means that to many, faith is a individual matter, not one that dictates if another person is kind, smart, charitable, or whatever. Some Christians don't mind - nay, even like - being friends with non-Christians. Many non-Christians like being friends and talking with Christians.

One thing I am not understanding is why all of these non-Christians would even WANT to come to a Christian forum? I mean I know it's not a Christian forum anymore since the new rule changes, but why on earth did they come here from the get go? I don't sign up at atheist or muslim or satanic forums for a reason, I don't believe in that.
Just as I welcome non-Christians to my home and my church, I welcome them to my website. After all, that is what being Christian is all about - make disciples of all nations.

:)

The whole issue of pastoral care at CF is still being discussed - I haven't posted about the upper management of CF as yet - they are likely to be hand-picked by me and will NOT be involved in direct moderation but will provide me with technical and administrative support (ie. forum creation, etc). Just letting people know that.

Yes, and I don't cross the street when I see a sinner coming either! Hey, how many rocks do you have in your pile? I have 28. I am saving them to throw at unwed mothers, homosexuals, and <gasp> ATHEISTS! You know, atheists deep down believe there is a God, but they just want to keep on sinning. They are so immoral and they are all communists too! In fact, that is what the whole Cold War was about. We were trying to teach those danged Commie Atheists a lesson and we did it too! Hey, are you coming on the trip to Russia. Those Orthodox really need to be converted. They have never heard the gospel! We need to hurry up before those Catholics get over there! We have alot planned. We are going to stand outside their 1900 year old church and preach the GOSPEL to them! We are going to have signs and T-shirts and EVERYTHING. Oh, yeah, and if we have time, we might help rebuild some houses while we are there. I think someone suggested that we visit one of those hospitals too. Well, we will see. I mean afterall, what is more important, right? Preaching the Gospel or visiting sick people and helping poor people have shelter. It is pretty clear to me!

Lisa
sarcasm and vitriol. youv been talkin about witnessin. what kind of witness was this post? sister, you are too busy been desperate to fit in. your priority is not atheists. your priority is PEOPLE. if you love one group more than the other youre failin as badly as the ppl youre bein sarcastic to. qed.

I suggest that the time and post count restrictions now in place (like having been a member for at least 6 months and having a certain post count) remain in place, and ALSO that the same be applied to any member who will be able to vote in moderator elections!

In short:

1. only members having been members here for 6+ months and xxx posts may applied to be moderators

2. only members having been members for 6+ months and having a certain post count will be eligible to vote in any staff elections!

That way it will be harder for people to just create sock accounts which then are used for skewing the vote in an election, and also help to ensure that only people who are regularly posting here and thus know this site, will be elected t staff level!

So there will be a core group which anchors the vision and serves to help correct drift, yes?

You can't make disciples without a solid foundation of believers in a solid definition of faith. Have you checked the resignation thread? The foundation is moving on out the door. DO YOU GIVE A HALF A CARE ABOUT THESE PEOPLE???

sounds like a good idea on the surface, however in my experience some people have 5-10 socks already, and they are all over 6 months old. All a protocol such as the one you described would do, is force people to grow and mature their sock puppets before using them. It does not prevent it however.

I wouldn't hold my breath for an answer to this. I think that the way we were and are being ignored answers your question though.

I haven't caught up on my reading since last night- and I apologise if this seems off topic, but I need to share this.

I had a terrible night. I slept badly, due to hideous dreams. I dreamt I was somewhere, probably the past, and they were leading Christians out to be burned. The people doing the burning were Christians. That was my dream. The terror in the air was tangible. I tried to shout out that it was wrong but was drowned out by the noise of the crowd.

It was truely horrific.

And then this morning in church I was leading. And there was this bit where I read from the scriptures:

Matt 5:21"You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder,[a] and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.' 22But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brotherwill be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca,[c]' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.

23"Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.

I offer these with no commentary. Do with them what you will.

Reasons:
1. To me CF is more than just a website, it is also a ministry, and this vision is something that only Christians understand and appreciate.
2. All our rules and policies, though it may appear generic, have foundations in Christian doctrine and the Bible.
3. This site is Christian forums and although non-Christians are welcome, the target audience is still Christians.
4. A large majority of Christian members will not submit to being moderated by non-Christians.
All of the above points can be challenged and counter-arguments brought forth, but this policy will not change while I remain webmaster.

Erwin , correct me if I am wrong but doesnt this pretty much show you have a new vision too? Your new one doesnt match the old one. What happened? Does God change now?

Does this mean CF is no longer considered a ministry? If the world cannot see the difference between the light and the darkness - how does anyone get led? Everyone falls into a pit then.

It might not entirely prevent socks from entering into votings and electons, but at least it would make it much harder!

As far as I can discern, there are only reletively few individuals here who create such a heap of socks for their purposes. Such behavior shouldbe labled as trolling and be acted upon accordingly.

True, that might still leave a few who'd try to skrew up elections by their unfair means, but hpefully the honest members would still far outnumber these sockers!:)

Well, I can't imagine limiting myself to debating and talking to people who think the same as me. It would be boring, and I wouldn't learn much! Now, while I have no problem with people who do like to limit their exposure to outside ideas, I'm not one of them, and many non-Christians are also seeking a wider range of people.

You can't make disciples without a solid foundation of believers in a solid definition of faith. Have you checked the resignation thread? The foundation is moving on out the door. DO YOU GIVE A HALF A CARE ABOUT THESE PEOPLE???

And a lot of posters are very intrigued about the new changes, though.

I think that the encourgment of fellowshipping and discussion between groups is a welcome addition to CF!

As for what people in the last few "A New CF..." threads have been suggesting:

-Keeping faith icons not as a status tool, but simply as an ID badge
-Keeping the ability to put people, and whole forums, on "Ignore"
-Keeping a core skeleton of rules
-Havine some forums where only fellowship - instead of debate - is allowed

I don't know how much of these Erwin is going to keep, but I'll send off that PM to him...
