The most the supporters are doing is trying to remind people to loving. Sure there are snippy remarks on both sides but the true venom is coming from those who oppose the change. Claims of giving in to liberalism, letting demons in, claims of armies of atheists going to overrun the forums and so on.I've read every post and I think your seeing things. I;ve seen no hatred. I've seen disappointment, disallusionment, surprise but the only animosity is coming from some of the supporters of the change.

I posted this elsewhere, but I think it needs to be somewhere where more can see it. This is offered as compassionate advice and not a rebuke. I cannot stop you from violating the agreement you made to uphold the rules of these forums, but I can suggest that it is a bad idea.
I do show God's love and interact with many unbelievers. There is a difference in interacting and being yoked together with them.

I think it is more accurate to say that nature constantly seeks balance, but rarely attains it. If attained, it is not maintained but for a brief time.If you believe in God then you likely believe God created all of the physical. And all of the physical seeks a balance. Fill a bowl with water and set it abruptly on the counter. What happens? The water transitions back and forth, sloshing less and less with each transition until it finds a balance. A rock rolling from the top of a hill does the same thing. Everything in life seeks a balance. You can see that as God or simply the nature of the universe. Either way, balance is inherent.
Not everyone comes to these forums for the purpose of debating. I debate on other boards. I came here for fellowship and restoration.Speaking for myself; I spend most of my time in the General Apologetics section and that isn't likely to change. The one thing I've never understood is how anyone could find any satisfaction in presenting a pro-Christian position while knowing that all of the non-Christians effectively had one (or both) hands tied behind their backs. I can assure you that I debate for the purpose of standing toe-to-toe with those of dissimilar beliefs. There is no satisfaction to be had in gagging an opponent and then winning the debate by means of handicapping the opposition -- not for me.
The power of pushing people out is in the wording of the new policy--why else would some people be posting farewells due to the policy change?--and those who are empowered by it will be the oppressors.I didn't read anything in the outline which suggests that any member will have the power to push other members out. If we have a personal concern regarding placing an individual in a position of authority, we simply don't vote for them. We can try to reason out our differences but we should do so knowing that the fruits of such a process will be limited. The rest is left up to the selection process which, for the first time, isn't a small group of the "elite" choosing only those they believe fit their personal profile for members of staff. That kind of "crony-ism" never leads to anything but a dictatorial few, misusing their authority against the populace. Let the members choose what they want. We can't all have everything we want, but this is far better than a small percentage herding the majority about like... like a herd of kept animals.

I wouldn't be opposed to retaining the faith icons. I think it tells you something about the person whose posts you may be reading which might be less than apparent in the posts themselves. That said, I can also see how it might be the source of a few problems. Once the forum has had a chance to re-form and settle, perhaps the membership will decide we want them back. What you know or don't know isn't the issue, but rather what put forth here as your beliefs. I don't pretend to read minds, but it's easy to recognize when someone tries to make things about personal prejudice by attributing motivations to those who disagree with them.

And yet still, here are many of us in this very thread saying to you: "We're not going to take over. We look forward to talking to you and sharing with you." and in return we are being told "Go away, you're not wanted here". Is that the Great Commission?
