A new CF, an old vision (2)

I think what's happening is we're all envisioning the worst case scenario of what COULD happen.

Why don't we all just wait and see how it works out? We really don't have any idea what Erwin has up his sleeve. He's obviously thought about this for a while now, and I believe that he is doing what he believes is right.

I can not bring myself to believe that menas that Erwin is going to silence us from preaching the gospel.

I have as many questions and concerns as the next guy, but until I see the new set of rules at the very least, I'm going to give Erwin the benefit of the doubt.

If we are going to be voting for our mods, and rules for that matter.....are some safety measures going to be implemented to make sure someone doesn't form a bunch of sock puppets, and stuff the ballet box....so to speak?

I am not a Liberal, but I am very, very glad that atheists are going to have free access to the entire site. I spend tons of time in GA and GT and I am going to hang around. I completely embrace the new policy.

I'm curious. Have any non-Nicene-affirming members said anything in these two threads that has required babysitting or smacked of confrontation? This is really the first test isn't it? How is it working out so far in these nearly 2000 posts in under 24 hours?

It's not those who will state, straight up, that they aren't Christian who are the biggest problem. It's those putting forth their unbiblical, personal doctrines to the others earnestly seeking Christ who will do the damage, commit heresy and lead innocents astray.

The old CF was confined to denominational beliefs, now the new CF is confined to being a Christian whether you are right or wrong.

It's really not possible to be honest. There are free proxies all over the net so IP checks wouldn't work. IP checks would also deny my wife a vote as we come through with the same IP and yet are two people. The only workable solution is a minimum post limit for voting but you run into a problem of the susbstance of those posts and so on. There is not a real system that can be implemented to insure security of voting. Also straight majority votes are a simple tyranny of the majority and have no place in a community minded environment. This is a problem which Erwin will have to address. There are ways to limit the problem manners which are workable but there is no reason to bring them up while everyone is running scared from the evil scary demons who apparently are going to invade this place and be mean to everyone who is conservative.

the same way you preach a sermon called "Sinners in The Hands of an Angry God"...with love, and honesty, and compassionate tears, and forgiveness.

if you preach it any other way at all your words will be empty, and you will have lost a great opportunity.

That's not true at all and it reflects your short time here. Only the Congregational Fora was confined by denominational beliefs. And CF is not confined to Christians now at all.

Perhaps time spent on CF could also be a factor in choosing whose votes will be counted.

I keep seeing a disconnect in this regard. Claims have been made that non-christians cannot be moderators here because they don't have the Holy Spirit guiding them in their decisions, and then the same people might turn around and say they're worried about the idea of electing moderators because it will just be a popularity contest ... yet the majority of those voters will be the self-same christians they think are the only ones capable of making proper decisions led by the Holy Spirit? Does the Holy Spirit make someone capable of honestly determining when another person is misbehaving yet incapable of preventing you from misbehaving yourself? *sigh*

How can tell who are christian or not.That are we only know in our heart and of course God Matthew 7:21 - 23, 1 John 3:20 so I agree little with Erwin here

Where was it suggested that preaching the truth was going to be against the rules? I seriously doubt that part of Erwins dreams for Christian forums is that they don't have the Gospel preached.
