AT the same time, I noticed many do NOT know their own denominational teachings. I say this is good. A safe haven is a local Church. You go ahead and welcome it but that is not why the Congregational Fora were designed in the first place. There are many, in my opinion the majority, who come to CF for the Congregational Fora because they were supposed to be a safe-haven. A place of rest and fellowship. Now they will not be.
Am I the only one that think one of CF's main problems, or at least one of the major aggravaiting factors to its problems, is that it's simply too big?
Never been to that one. LOL If that is a site.uberchristians is legalistic?
Why not? As I wrote earlier WD has become a mostly open forum and it does not feel like a battle ground in there...You go ahead and welcome it but that is not why the Congregational Fora were designed in the first place. Yup, google it... it's where CaDan, seebs and co. hang.Never been to that one. LOL If that is a site.
If there are rules against debate in fellowship forums-I don't see how things can denegrate. And if those rules are eliminated--then it is totally within the power of a person to just not respond to posts that are looking for a fight. It just takes active prudence.
Man- I have missed seebs' posts....Yup, google it... it's where CaDan, seebs and co. hang.
Exactly, that's one of the fears that is completely unfounded. Most likely, the only change as far as congregation fora are concerned is that non-Christians will be able to enquire and fellowship along with other denominations of Christians. Those looking for a fight will still, most likely, get their threads deleted. Why not? As I wrote earlier WD has become a mostly open forum and it does not feel like a battle ground in there...

Couldn't you also exert just as much energy in hoping for the best?? It is also a call to scrutinize how we each individually put forth Christ and respond in love and reverence. One would hope those rules remained in place. The problem is that it's just all too vague right now and I fear worst case scenario.

Exactly - and I actually think, as you'd be more dispursed around the site, the poor old apologists in GA would get some breating space. It's damage control, really!
Then run for a mod position, take an active leadership roll, and don't vote for trollsI've seen far too many forums go down the tubes. We could hope for the best, but there's also a problem with false optimism. I would prefer to play a wait and see approach, but I don't really see the situation improving. I'm just being realistic.
Am I the only one who feels like interactions with people with viewpoints far different from my own really helps me to more deeply understand and put into practice my own faith and understanding of becoming Christ in the world??
If my faith is such that others opinions and viewpoints cause me to become defensive--then the problem is with me--and I might be far better off not being online at all. I find it far more fruitful in growing my faith and maturity ineracting with others who do not share each and every opinion and belief I hold...as that doesn't allow for growth or a challenge to deepen my understanding of why I believe what I believe.
The site no longer knows what a Christian is. Before you could check here: Be a Christian
I'm guessing you probably are now!
