MODERATORS ,would it be possible, for one of you to start a thread in chat with mods,or here, where the moderators who are resigning would explain they reasons?

I am really interested what are the points of the new proposed changes, the current moderators disagree with, and why.

Thank you,I hope this will be possible, and we will have some understanding of the way you feel about the changes .

AT the same time, I noticed many do NOT know their own denominational teachings. I say this is good. A safe haven is a local Church.

Am I the only one that think one of CF's main problems, or at least one of the major aggravaiting factors to its problems, is that it's simply too big?

Without a doubt. Far too big. Seen as being too many conflicting things to too many people.

You can't have a site which is both a Christian Ghetto and a place of outreach.

Why not? As I wrote earlier WD has become a mostly open forum and it does not feel like a battle ground in there...

If there are rules against debate in fellowship forums-I don't see how things can denegrate. And if those rules are eliminated--then it is totally within the power of a person to just not respond to posts that are looking for a fight. It just takes active prudence.

One would hope those rules remained in place. The problem is that it's just all too vague right now and I fear worst case scenario.

Exactly, that's one of the fears that is completely unfounded. Most likely, the only change as far as congregation fora are concerned is that non-Christians will be able to enquire and fellowship along with other denominations of Christians. Those looking for a fight will still, most likely, get their threads deleted.

there may be a couple reasons why it worked out in there. 1. most of the vocal people in WD are very liberal. There have been tons of posts by people saying they are liberal, and in the prelude to this thread saying they hoped this would happen and CF would become more liberal and not more conservative. 2. Most of the discussions in there have nothing to do with religion at all. Most are about cleaning, cooking, husbands, kids, tv shows, music, pictures, etc. I'm not so sure how this will work in areas where the main topics of discussion are Christian principles and Scripture questions.

Couldn't you also exert just as much energy in hoping for the best?? It is also a call to scrutinize how we each individually put forth Christ and respond in love and reverence.

I've seen far too many forums go down the tubes. We could hope for the best, but there's also a problem with false optimism. I would prefer to play a wait and see approach, but I don't really see the situation improving. I'm just being realistic.

Exactly - and I actually think, as you'd be more dispursed around the site, the poor old apologists in GA would get some breating space. It's damage control, really!

That's occurred to me too.

I've noticed that stepping into the debate fora can be a too-overwhelming experience for some of the Christians. They feel ganged up on and attacked. To me, that's been a shame as I'm not only and exclusively interested in hearing what the thick-skinned have to say.

I can understand why people might be alarmed at the worry that all of the discussions on the board will now be like that experience. But I just don't anticipate that happening if we're spread out over this whole huge board. It may be quite possible that those who find GA distasteful might have no problems dealing with an occassional question or difference of opinion from a non-Christian even if it pops up in their denominational forum.

Only time will tell. I sincerely hope I'm not wrong about this.

Then run for a mod position, take an active leadership roll, and don't vote for trolls
