Yep - Leprosy.

That was so interesting to me - in view of the number of times that God used leprosy to demonstrate something - like with Moses in Exodus, etc.

So pain is a gift from God (?) showing life (?) health (?)

Consider Paul's affliction. Consider Jacob/Israel wrestling all night with God and being lame thereafter.

People throw away that which is broken. God doesn't begin to use us until He has broken us. Sometimes that is a physical brokenness. Sometimes broken in other ways.

I think that those who willingly endure pain are blessed with wisdom.

I firmly believe that people who try to "heal" from past trauma are refusing some of the greatest gifts they can receive.

It is kind of scarey to me that He uses us best after we are broken and He loves us enough to break us. It scares me when I look at my children. Don't want them to go through pain - but I guess I need to change the way I view pain!

I need to change the way I view my aloneness - which is a type of pain - it certainly is from a place of brokenness.

I had to smile when I read this. I have a feeling that you're clueless as to the wonderful effect you have on anyone who gets to know you.

Seems to me, you've gleaned the lion's share of wisdom from the pain you've accepted and endured.

What a nice thing to say!
I'm so happy to think I am helpful to others because of the brokenness - I sure wouldn't want that to have been wasted!

I wonder though how I get used to it and view it as a 'happy' thing internally. I hope that makes sense!

Joy,

My sister and I both became Christians as children. When my sister was in college she had a difficult break-up with a young man and after that she left the church. She later married an unsaved man and lived a successful life according to the world’s standards. Several years ago her marriage began to fall apart and so did her health. After being away from the Lord for close to 20 years she told me she fell to her knees and gave her life back to Christ. Her health has continued to fail and her husband left her, but her faith is strong. God continues to use her although she is completely disabled now. She is such an inspiration to me in how she is dealing with a progressive debilitating illness.

You will. Keep praising.
I do now. I have found I love depending on Him for everything; I don't even want to know what it would be like if I hadn't come through all those years of trials. I think what the locusts have eaten is going to be replaced very, very soon.

When you have no experience of pain, it's rather hard to experience joy.

We can't heal ourselves... only God can do that. But the scar remains...
