It is hard to tell our children the truth about their fathers.
Sometimes it is just the right thing to do.
Sometimes you have no choice.

I'm glad it worked out well with your SD.

I HATED telling him. When I told him his father has been threatening me, he wanted to beat him.

Matthew 5 -

3 "You're blessed when you're at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule.

4 "You're blessed when you feel you've lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you.

5 "You're blessed when you're content with just who you are - no more, no less. That's the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can't be bought.

6 "You're blessed when you've worked up a good appetite for God. He's food and drink in the best meal you'll ever eat.

7 "You're blessed when you care. At the moment of being 'carefull,' you find yourselves cared for.

8 "You're blessed when you get your inside world - your mind and heart - put right. Then you can see God in the outside world.

9 "You're blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight. That's when you discover who you really are, and your place in God's family.

10 "You're blessed when your commitment to God provokes persecution. The persecution drives you even deeper into God's kingdom.

11 "Not only that - count yourselves blessed every time people put you down or throw you out or speak lies about you to discredit me. What it means is that the truth is too close for comfort and they are uncomfortable.

Well, today is errands day. So I get to drive my gas guzzler around! But gas is down to 2.02 here. Wow!!

Um, I also get to paint today....and the electrical inspector is coming for final inspection! Guess I'll put on my painting duds later. The good news is, this is the last of the painting for a bit. Yay! Starting to paint the closet doors. Once I fill and paint all the nail holes, I'm finished out there!

Oh, but I am doing touch up painting for one woman I work for. I can't get away from it!!

Yes I did! Woohoo! I was off pretty early last night. Had a full night's rest.

Why are you up so early???
I have to take kids to school and we have a half-hour drive to get there.
Otherwise, I get up early all the time, except for summer!!

TW - I've been thinking about getting a copy of the Message version of the Bible. What do you know about it? How it originated, etc? What do you like about it? What are the pros and cons?

Joy,

Well I'm not TW, but I have a copy of The Message that I've been reading. I know it is not a translation, but a paraphrase, therefore, I only use it for reading and not studying. On the inside cover it states "The Message is a contemporary rendering of the Bible from the original languages, crafted to present its tone, rhythm, events, and ideas in everyday language."

It is not without controversy. Check out the customer reviews from this site to see what others are saying about it.

Wow - some of those reviews are pretty harsh! Makes me scared to do the wrong thing and curious all at the same time! Thank you for providing the link GG. I will check it out carefully.

I think you just have to take it for what it is: a paraphrase. That being said, I really like the Message. Like GG, I don't use it as a study bible, but it is especially great when I'm reading--just to read. There is definitely some literary license, to be sure, but I don't think anything that would lead you down a path of destruction.

Last fall, when I was studying Romans, I read out of the Message, then would switch back to my bible and read the same chapter out of my bible. Over all, I think the Message helped me understand some of the more difficult passages in Romans.

I don't use it or the living Bible for reading, teaching or study. They are too off of the original greek and hebrew for my taste. I never did study or read a Living Bible when I first got saved. So, I have always used the KJV or the NAS and I have stuck with them, I can read them as easily as though they are plain english.

Its just there, in my head, having studied them daily for 25 years now.
