It's like watching a Chess analysis of a game in progress, and he's going over several lines of replies in a moment's time; or George Koltanowski doing the famous Knight's Tour demonstration in 30 seconds.

I think that his aim is to inspire people to research the topics a bit more. The CRISPR video is an excellent example of that. He has several links to other sources on that particular very useful genetic tool. Since your goal is to keep yourself as ignorant as possible I can see why this video did not appeal to you.

Now I can't make out what he's saying.

He is just using the key words. It would take many books to explain what he is saying. For example Gould laid to rest Haeckel's interpretation of evolutionary embryology. So this was Stephen J. Gould contribution to the subject of evo devo.

I use to study this stuff quite a bit but now I am wondering if I even want to continue to keep up with all the new discoveries they are coming up with. 50 years ago you could read one book and know just about all there was to know about DNA. Now you would have to read a whole library of books on the subject.
