A Message to Our Generation

I am 22. I love God with all my heart, soul, mind and strength. Without Him, my life becomes meaningless and without purpose. With Him, I find my place in this world, my reason for living, my hope, my dreams, and my future.

It is my prayer that this is true for the millions of others my age and of my generation that seeks to define itself, not by world tragedy, but by it’s spiritual hope and promise which can only come from God, and has come from God.

I am talking about a hope, a promise to fulfill the callings, plans, and purposes in our lives individually, and corporatly - together. I am encouraging you to read on and learn what it is we have as a responsibility to ourselves and to God, and indeed our future glory and hope that awaits us up on the simple ladder of time. The road will not be easy. The climb will be hard, but we will prevail. I am talking about these future times which we now call and have called for a while: The Last Days.

I am not some religious fanatic, nor uneducated philospher that hopes to make a name for himself, or build up his pride for the sake of getting his name known. Other do that. I will not. I am instead posting here a wake up call for our generation. A call to action, a call to understanding and knowledge of the weapons of Love that we have been given. The world needs to see Jesus Christ in our lives. They need to see that He is real, that He is alive in us, as it is the only way the deception can be broken: the deception that there is no God or that he doesn’t care.

I would just as well call this book “The Multitudes of Those Who Know God and Love Him and our Purpose in Life” but to break it simple and still inspire understanding, I call it “The Call of God on this Generation and the Next.”

World leaders. World powers. World media. Worldwide changes that have shaped our modern society and have propelled us forward faster into a new future that leaves one uncertain as to what will happen next; but a future the bible calls a time of distress, a time of mourning, a time of witness and execution. A time of war. We are not to be alarmed or frightened as the bible clearly demonstrate’s the sovereignty of God in these verses: “and when you see these things come to pass, do not be alarmed. These things MUST happen” (emphasis mine).

“Where are we to go?”, or “what are we to do?”, begs the next question. This is a good answer: “That whatever you do, ...do it in the name of Jesus Christ.” and “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it, and do it with all dilligence as unto the Lord.”

We are called to live our lives as God desires is best for us. This requires us to hear His voice to discern His will. Now I know that this is a major problem for us, and for the church today. We have grown so accustomed to church life being a Sunday ritual that not many of us think twice to continue our relationship with God on Monday. We hear a lot about how Christians have backslidden, slandered other Christians, and such that the world wonders what it truly means to be a Christian, and what a Christian actually does.

If you ask the layman on the street and asked them what a Christian was, you’d get an answer similar to this “They are basically good people trying to live their lives, they go to church, and they pray to God.” What they don’t know, and unfortunatly not a majority of us know is that our relationship with God goes beyond just normal every day living - but that our lives are in fact a fulfillment of the promise “and I have come..., so that you might have life more abundantly.” They won’t say that a Christian hears from God and talks with Him, and grows with Him, and walks with Him into newness of life. If you’re a nonbeliever, then this is what Christianity is, and should be. It is the very promise of Jesus Christ, God Himself to us - that if we believe what He did for us and accept it as true, He promises to draw near to us as we take this first step of drawing near to Him.

Our lives as Christians are not merely lives living some preordained puppet show, nor are they left alone in a dangerous arena where one wrong move results in sudden death, no overtime. No, instead we are called to live as He directs us with His Spirit - in accordance with Him who is in us, bearing fruit unto every good work - which is the evidence of our faith. Our lives are to be in open and honest relationship with the Almighty, our Creator, on a daily basis.

This becomes our target, our focus, our mission: indeed our lifestyle - our “what to do.” As to “where,” well, only God can tell you that. The Apostle Paul found himself travelling all over the ancient Roman Empire. Mary stayed at the feet of Jesus while Martha worked in the kitchen. What we do has a bearing on where we’re going, and what we will be doing in the future. God prepares each and every one of us for the journey and purposes He has for our lives. He never gives us anything that we are not ready for. We are tested, our character, our motives, our relationship with Him - so that God can help us to see for ourselves who we really are: a people desperate for truth, for life, for a love that only comes from Him and the only thing that truly fills the void in our hearts: God himself.

I encourage Christians everywhere, that no matter what you find yourself doing, do it for the glory of God, and seek him our in all things that you do - and then when all is said.. then let Him do. Trust Him in that. He will open the doors. You may just have to knock.
