  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello my name is Mike. I'm from a small town in south Mississippi. I'm a fairly new Christian. I was raised in church and professed to be saved since I was a kid. A preacher told me and my brother all we had to do to be saved was repeat this prayer and be babtised. I went through two combat tours thinking if I died I would go to heaven cause of what that preacher told me as a kid, so if you preach that kind of stuff come talk to I got a few things to tell ya. Anyway while in the military I slipped off into drugs, drinking, and I had a child out of wedlock. The mother or my child and now my wife came home one night to tell me she found the lord. Her telling me that made me question my own salvation and ultimately let to me meeting the lord. Since then I've turned my life around. Me and my girlfriend at the time and mother of my child has gotten married, I've stopped using drugs, I no longer drink, smoke, or cuss. I try my best every day to live for God, but my outlook on a lot of Christians have changed. I try to live my life by the bible and when I look around at Christians now I see a lot of people to lazy with there gift. I see people who go to church on Sunday but forget everything they heard as soon as they leave. I see a lot of people looking at Jesus like a maskot and not a savior. I see this country falling to pieces cause we have pushed God away. I'm not perfect by any means but my soul was on its way to busting Hell wide open but Jesus reached down and saved me. I'll spend the rest of my life trying to show people what they are missing. soul was on its way to busting Hell wide open but Jesus soul was on its way to busting Hell wide open but Jesus reached down and saved me. Thank God for his Grace in your life.. As for what your saying in regards to turning away from God and using Christ as a mascot and what not.. and in regards to what you plan to preach I support you and offer this peice of scripture to confirm your decision.

He who rebukes a man will in the end gain more favor than he who has a flattering tongue."
Proverbs 28:23

With that our brother Paul has some wise words as to how to do this

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."
Ephesians 4:29-32

Finally, I might offer that you consider re-reading your post it got a little difficult to read near the end as you began to repeat things in ways that made understanding more complex.. with that being said God Bless you.
