Hello, my fellow disciples of Christ! I am here looking for answers and my heart is broken.

At the beginning of August, I had a crisis of faith and started a course of abandoning the principles and doctrines of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I was born and raised in the Mormon church and was a true believer for 33 years. Now, after my own exploration of truth and research, I can no longer say that I believe the veracity of that religion.

I have been on ex-Mormon sites talking with others through my descent down these rabbit holes but a good majority of those who've abandoned Mormonism have become agnostic or atheist. I had real experiences while in the church, the Spirit of the Lord has touched my life, letting me know that my Savior lives, that I am loved, and there is a God worth my adoration and reverence. So, in an effort to not throw the baby out with the bathwater as I go through this process of researching my way out of Mormonism, I have come here to find guidance in clinging to and rebuilding my faith in Jesus Christ and God. I thank you for any guidance and patience you may have to offer.

Blessings and welcome my friend. The best advice any one can give you is to read his word prayerfully. You will come across alot of different doctrines and opinions on here and you will need to cleave to his words so that you do not be led astray. You will find a community of love here as well. Be blessed in your pursuit of the knowledge of our Lord amd Saviour Jesus Christ.

I have not. I am still struggling to separate the beliefs I was taught all my life from real Christian theology. Like the mustard seed, I am clinging to the spiritual experiences I had while praying and reading the Bible and right now, as I try to separate the truth from lies, it is all I have. I thought coming here, I could find kindred spirits to help me at least firm that base, by surrounding myself with positive messages about Christ.

I'm really sorry you had to go through being deceived. I use to have some mormons on my door regular and eventually I could see they were misled and tried to get through to them, even with absolute undeniable truth but they had already been told to switch off it anything was questioned or put forward.

Take your time and don't just rush to another church you do not have too, the body of Christ is the church, not any man made organization. Take your time to spend with the word of GOD and not doctrines of all the churches around. Stick with just the Bible, no doctrines of man. Continue with your own research, that is what I did. Little steps.

Welcome to CF. Many years ago, I had a similar crisis. I almost abandoned many faith in YHWH. What prompted this, was a realization that I had been fed false doctrine, lies. Fortunately my zeal for truth, and the logic that YHWH endowed me with, helped me to realize that the problem was that I had been following the words of men. I decided to give YHWH one more chance. I decided to throw out everything that everyone had told me about Elohim; and sit down and read the Bible afresh, from beginning to end.

I started in Genesis. Months later, I was somewhere in the Gospels; when Elohim revealed himself to me. I no longer needed the Bible to know that Elohim is the reality.

I believe that braking away from the doctrines of men, and seeking out YHWH for myself was YHWH's plan for me; that his Ruach (Spirit) was calling me to draw closer to his truth.

It seemed like a crisis to me at the time; but I see now that it was a gift from my loving father.

I have a prayer for you. I pray that our loving father gives you the strength to endure this test that he has for you; that he draws you ever near, as you seek his truth.

Welcome, Hrairoo. You will always find that any assembly or local congregation falls short of the freedom in Christ that you are seeking there. Usually our growth in Christ depends more on one-to-one relationships than which local church we attend.

I want to share a resource that has blessed me, and stands as a monument for the LDS people. I am going to link to the complete two-hour programs here, but I suggest you concentrate on sections of them as you are led. There are many excerpt videos on line of the music and just the sermon, if it's more convenient than finding it in the long videos.
