• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

hey all, i just have a few questions about OCD just cause im not sure if i have it. i guess i should start out that that i have always believed in God and i do not remember a time when i did not, but i recently have been trying to get close to him agian, and im scared that i am gonna question my faith and what i believe in, and at times i feel like i am and it makes me feel awful, and also im confused between what is right and wrong with the politcs and what the world believes is right and stuff and its scares me that i could choose to do the wrong thing, i am so afraid of my thoughts and some days its unbearable and i shout out no no no and stuff.i always pray and ask God to help me with my faith and even to give me more faith , and i ask him to keep me from believing what the world wants me to believe, and also i have more questions about OCD, it basically is an unwanted though right> and it takes over you and you cant stop thinking about it right? And are there days where you dont think about it sometimes? Im just trying to see if i have this so i can get help

ocd is a really big anxiety disorder. The anxiety you are feeling right now may be a indicator. But I am by no means a professional, and so i cannot diagnose you. But if you would like, go a little more indepth on some of your struggles, and that way myself or someone else on here can let you know if they are dealing with it, or have dealt with it.

well im just worried too about right and wrong and stuff that we are learning in class ( im in college and alot of people are liberals) and im so terrified im going to turn all pro choice and agree with the way they see things and there is a persistient thought that i know is not true but it always pops into my head and im scared im gonna believe it and accept it its sooooo frustrating and i just wish it would leave me alone and let me be normal agian! i hate feeling this way and i just want to feel like my self agian. this happened five years ago and i felt like i was begginning puberty and i feel the same this time. i dont know what to do or if i have to talk to someone ive been praying and seeking God, but then im scared im going to think Something bad about him or think his word is not true. does that make my faith not real? cause when the bad feelings and thoughts first started i called on him right away! :crossrc::confused:

k. there are others who know more about the disorder on here so i'll let them take up that part of the question. but I do know how you feel because I'm in college as well and sometimes people are just so openly against what I believe and sometimes what they say bounces in my head and I know what you're saying about not wanting to believe the wrong thing, because there is so much out there and there was even in biblical times, as Christ talks about the Pharisees in particular being on the wrong path, but the Lord knows how much we desire to do the right and live according to Him and not the world, and He will guide us if we acknowledge Him in all our ways. If we continue to ask Him to keep us, He will keep us. He wants us to be on the right accord and will not lead us to the wrong thing for He is just and loving and merciful. Read this parable:

Luke 18

1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men out to always pray, and not to faint;
2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

The Lord says that we should ask and recieve. If we ask for guidance and believe, then we will recieve (Luke 11: 10). Continue to pray unto the Father and He will guide you. My Lord is righetous, and He will do what He says. He is no man that He should lie.

My Lord is righetous, and He will do what He says. He is no man that He should lie. Keeping this to yourself is hard. I spoke to my close Christian friends about it and others who didn't understand. Pray on it and talk to someone who you feel comfortable with. You always have us too =] even though it isn't the same as being right there. We are not imaginary LOL you have us in spirit. True faith, as Mitzi and Grantley Morris once put it, is stepping toward God despite these thoughts and that's faith in action. Sometimes we find ourselves checking, like what shows that I do believe, but we just have to accept that God knows our heart. It takes time but overall, with the Lord, we will prevail, for when has He ever failed?

and i just want God to come and take me over and consume me foreverr!

your welcome. and I understand what you mean. sometimes I used to be like okay I don't want these. Lord, you have all power take it away. But now I understand that if He takes us out of every hard trial we face, how will we trust Him and have patience and how will our faith grow stronger. Although the situation we face is bad, He has the ability, through His power and grace, to turn the situation around in our favor and by the end we can say: that made me stronger, my faith is stronger, my knowledge of His word is greater. =] God is good and I love Him. And He loves you and is seeing you through this. remember that you are in the hand of our compassionate Savior and can't be plucked.

John 10: 27

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
30 I and my Father are one.
