  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, you did go to your mother's to spend time with her, didn't you? Had you planned on going to the camp before you got there? Had you discussed it with her?

Is she a Christian? If not, it might be a better witness to spend time with her.

When I went to visit my son (who is unsaved), I didn't go to a church service on Sunday, so I could spend time with him.

I understand your problem. You want to honor your mom, and you want to spend time with the friends at camp. Can you trust the Lord to obey your Mom and see how He blesses you in the future for it? He will. Maybe not in the immediate future, but someday you will be able to look back and see how your honor to your mom was blessed.

Pray and ask God to make the feelings of let down not be too bad. See if you and your mom can do something special this week to be together for. A picnic or ballgame sound like fun. Spend time together making a memory together. I do that all the time with my kids who are grown and live away. I only get to see them a couple of times a year now. We make special memories together.

God will provide some way of going, I think He will. I had one week to earn 140 dollars to go to my church camp and I went, I'm sure he has some way of getting you to go! Pray hard! It will come. Scratch that, I'm not Positive, but God will definitely do His will. He will also bless you, as they said. Just relax, think upon God, and You will find solution. God Bless.
