  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

As you probably know by now, this forum was split, and is now called House Churches and Cell groups

The forum 'Unchurched' has been changed to 'Looking for a church' as we would encourage you to do so, is located here.

The posts of the combined forums remain in this forum, and as you all are familiar with them, I am asking if you will post the URL ( link) to the threads in here that would best be in the ex-unchurched forum and I will move them to the 'Looking for a church' forum.

Thank you for your help in this!

Enjoy your new forum!

And those body of believers will often replicate the dead, heirarchical organisation of Church Corp. In fact, it is a certainty, because we in the west have no imagination or the balls to follow Jesus and give it all up for him.

Oooeee, that is a lot to sift through, Zayit. I think that the titles are usually obvious, if anyone is looking for a church. I have not started that many threads, I think, but don't think any of mine would fit in the "looking" category.

The title "Unchurched" was not bad in my opinion. Some that lurk here, like myself, have been thrown out, usually for petty reasons. Others have chosen to leave abusive or misleading churches, and have no other alternatives. I know Flandidly's group purposely has given up all forms of organization, except perhaps the cell phone? ;) Still others feel at peace by themselves and have no need to congregate in an organized way. We still all are part of Jesus Christ's church. I found the term "Unchurched" to be appropriate enough.

If a better name should be found, I'd propose Independent Christians or Free Christians. That has a much more positive sound. Just my two cents.

Ah so you are saying I was wrong?

LOL.

I dont doubt the intntions of peeps who cll themselves christians, what I am disturbed by is that CF doesn't seem to want to recognise those christians who are christians without churches - and who have valed reasons for being so.

(myslef not included, kinda ;) )

I'm not sure WHAT a "House Church" is commonly conceived to be, but I can answer you what I think:

I think it is another attempt to re-institutionalize.
It is an attempt to redefine what has already been defined.
It is another adjective grafted onto the one word that says it all, "church".
It further ambiguates the original concept of church and attatches yet another lifeless object (a house) to a living body (church).
If I am in THE church, I'm at home but the only place I have to be to be IN church, is IN Christ.
Get it?
I don't like the idea of making your honey-do list any longer. But I certainly do like that you read & responded to my post.
Now I know that you understand where I'm coming from, and it is without malice that I express a sincere concern.
That makes me feel a 1000% better already.
I may be troubled, but I don't want to be a trouble-maker.
Thanks.

What do you think a house church is? A church is not made up of brick & mortar - it is made up of a body of believers.

Beloved brethren,

As far as I can see we are at this moment, seperated from the world in the name of Jesus and gathered in virtual church now on line as a body of belivers.

To make home church an actual face to face reality reality, simply use the place where you dwell for hosting servants of God In daily prayer, fellowship, breaking of bread and the studing and reminding each other ofthe Apostles doctrine.

Jesus Christ is THE ROCK, he was speaking about when he said to Peter, upon this ROCK I shall build my church.

The words Jesus gives to his disciples js the same , yesterday, today and forever.

The place where I dwell is a gathering place for the servants of God. As disciples we are learning by living the gospel of Jesus Christ. when disciples visit I share what I am learning using this forum.

Act 2:46And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

I like to think that when we come together here we are spiritualy meeting In the temple of God with the intent of being in one accord with the word and spirit of Christ.

Thanks ti.Jesus we can hear the Holy Spirit reminding us to redem the time by sharing and eating the words of Christ. The more we share his words with each other the greater our faith will grow.

So I am glad to share with you ,from my house, to where you are and back again.

Thank you brother fanofthetruth, and all other brethren that enter this thread.

My name is Daniel Eggink and I have been a Zig Zag Christian since 1969

http://www.woodstocknation.org/glen.htm

I am living in the place where I am now because as a disciple of Jesus, when I enter into a town as a disciple of Jesus, I seek who in it is worthy, and there abide untill I go on.

Mat 10:11 And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.

My son desist son,Thyl,

http://www.woodstocknation.org/thunderbird_boogie_tour_1.htm

had been working for the owner of this property as a stone mason. I was on a mission making a documentry in Atlanta Georgia.

When I returned to Bethel to assist the birth of my granddaughter Thyl introduced me to Ted Jessup who offered my a place to camp.

I told him I had nothing else to do but follow Jesus. I had been kicked out of almost every church I have entered because of the narrow discipleship message I preach. Many pastors accpeted and aided me but their wives said I had to go.

Ted said I could camp here for the rest of my life. He would see I had a pulpet to preach from. He made the same offer to the rest of my family but they all have other things to do. My wife, Abigail, bounces from house to house among our children and sisters in the Lord. She visits as often as she os able.

The point is I am convinced a disciple of Jesus is given a mission to learn of him and preach and teach his message.

Ted Jessup has been true to his word and supplied me with a wee cottage with eletricity and phone line.

Now, please share a bit about your own walk with Jesus.

With love in Christ,
brother daniel

I disagree in part. I think that some groups want to make use of house churches to re-institutionalize, but not all. Many groups that meet in houses are only loosely affiliated with others of like kind, or some not at all.

I think that we all are free to choose whether we meet in houses, pubs or wherever. Although it seems that we are being labeled with "house church and cell-group" does not necessarily mean that we have to meet in a house or that we belong to a cell in a larger church organism. Preferably though, I'd rather meet in a house than out in the rain and cold, or be plagued by mosquitoes and other insects. A warehouse, shed, cave, or other type of adequate shelter would do too, just so I'm not exposed to the weather (and hopefully not the insects). There are times of the year when the air is not so full of them even though warm, then I don't have so much against meeting outside, but that is my own preference.

but the only place I have to be to be IN church, is IN Christ.

I know that I am a part of the body of Christ, but see the term "church" as referring to at least two Christians that are meeting in the name of Christ. Just my opinion.
