• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I can't tell you what the Lord says about it but I do know that you have to do what you think is right. If you can't justify him cheating off you then don't give him the paper. If you can then let him borrow the paper for an appropriate fee. I personally think cheating is wrong and harmful but its your work so do what you think is right.

Having been through Uni myself and having seen the same thing happen when I was there I well tell you this and let you work it out for yourself.
Many of the people who did the degree I did and collected most of the work from other (past students) without being caught found that when they got into the line of work their degree set them up for they were unable to do the job and did not have anyone they could grab good marks from. Do you want to aid anyone in their own downfall?

Well today someone asked me for a paper that I did that got a good grade and I'm contemplating whether to give it to them or not. This person doesn't really do his work and I'm sure that they will copy right off of me. Do you think I should give it to them. What does the lord say about this???
You could always just give them your bibliography page!
Here's one thing to be wary of. If your paper really does get copied, a teacher/professor may well recognize it and get you both in trouble. People get busted like that all the time. It ain't worth the risk.

Why not offer to help your friend write their own paper instead of giving them yours?

If you give them the paper you wrote you are hurting him in the long run. If he gets caught (and teachers and professors can tell if it is a student's own work or not), he could be in major trouble. If the teacher or professor recognizes that it is actually your work, you can be in trouble as well.

The overall purpose of education is for the student to learn. Cheating looks like the quick and easy answer, but in the long run everyone loses.

Do you want a doctor that cheated their way through med school operating on you?

Do you want an accountant who cheated their way through business school to handle your IRS issues?

If you offer to help the friend, you end up with a clear conscious, they benefit from your knowledge, and you have time to spend with the friend.

Just a P.S. - I work for a University. Our professors use a new tool designed for teachers and professors that help track down plagerized or stolen work. Its a very handy little tool, and students have been expelled over "borrowing" papers.

A friend who teaches at another University just called a freshman into his office to offer the student a chance to prove they actually wrote a paper that was clearly above the student's ability to write. That student was given an F.

I don't think giving your friend your work will help him in the long run. When I was in college I would not give anyone my work because I knew the chance of them copying it was there, and that could end up getting me in trouble too. Instead I would offer people my help. If your friend is going to succeed he needs to learn how to work sooner or later, don't give him the easy way out.

The bible has many verses about working. Here are some of them:

proverbs 10:4
Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.

proverbs 18:9
One who is slack in his work is brother to one who destroys.

proverbs 21:25
The sluggard's craving will be the death of him, because his hands refuse to work.

2.Thessalonians 3:10
For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: "If a man will not work, he shall not eat."

You didn't elaborate on this person. Is this person close to you? I say if not, then definately "No Way!"

Is the person going to use it for reference or copy it?

Be very carefull!
