  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Paul teaches that God gives us both the desire and the accomplishment – the Word and the Word made flesh.

As a humble sinner praying that God will see things my way and grant me an ever-so-simple little miracle, I wonder if I am therefore sufficiently surrendered to God’s will. Should my simple prayer be, “Lord, Thy will be done?” Or is it okay to keep hope alive for my little miracle with my prayer; even ask you to join with me in that prayer?

Arguably, God knows best; knows my needs before I ask. But perhaps I have a choice here.

That must be what Paul was going on about when he wrote, “God begets in you any measure of desire or accomplishment.”

Brothers and sisters, I believe strongly in total surrender. I also believe that this measure of desire “begot” in me comes from our Lord and is well worth praying for. If Father Abraham could bargain with God, so then may I.

Should I not receive my (a) miracle, I will know that I tried, that it was not in the Divine Plan. I will rejoice in Paul’s promise that all things work to the good for those who love Jesus and are called according to His decree (Romans 8:28), which means God has a (b) different and better miracle in mind.

Praise the Lord. Pray incessantly for A or B. Have a good Lent – forgive someone.

Beautiful! This is a wonderful thing to pray. Thank you, Toney. I pray God *does* bring you your A or B - and with it, the fullness of joy.
