A Husband and Wife will Become One
When we look at marriage we have a picture of Jesus and the body of believers. The husband represents Jesus, and the wife represents the body of believers. The husband should treat his wife the way Jesus treats us, He gave up His Throne in Heaven to become a servant to all. He came in humility and selflessness. He laid down His Life for us. The husband should do the same for his wife. The wife should serve her husband the way the body of Jesus serves Jesus in obedience and love. The husband is the head of his wife. Thus he should treat her with respect and love. If the husband serves his wife the way a athlete takes care of his body, then the body functions at its best. The husband and wife are one body. They function as a head and body. They are inseparable! Is it possible to separate a head from a body and still have life? No! That is the way with a husband and wife. God joined the two together, the husband is the head and serves the wife who is the body. The church of Jesus is similar. Jesus is the Head and believers are the body. Jesus Loves His body and takes care of them like an athlete takes care of his body. Believers serve Jesus the Head like a body functions to keep the head alive. They are one. Inseparable! Each part functions for the benefit of the whole. Each part has a purpose to sustain the whole. Jesus is the Head and is the Life. We live because the Head is Alive. Apart from the Head we can't do anything. Similarly, the husband and wife function together as one unit. Together they are alive, apart they are dead. Don't join yourself to death. Believers should marry a believer. Believers are headed towards Life. Non-Believers are headed towards death. Would a live head joined to a dead body be alive? Would that make any sense to join a live head to a dead body? No! But perhaps if that does happen, the Head could bring the body to life.
