A far-right House Freedom Caucus member said on Sunday that any evidence linking President Joe Biden to any high crime or misdemeanor "doesn't exist right now" as some Republicans push to impeach him.
Appearing on MSNBC's "Inside with Jen Psaki," Republican Rep. Ken Buck was asked about the constant push from political bomb-thrower Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene to impeach the president. Buck noted the "time for impeachment is the time when there's evidence linking President Biden to a high crime or misdemeanor."
"That doesn't exist right now," he said.

GOP lawmaker faces blowback from Republicans over anti-impeachment stance

Conservative Rep. Ken Buck is just one of several House Republicans standing in the way of the right’s push to impeach President Joe Biden.

But his high-profile seat on the key House Judiciary Committee, recent outspoken interviews railing against the House GOP’s investigative efforts, and long track record of bucking his own party have put a target on his back in conservative circles.

Now, there is a serious effort underway to find a candidate to mount a primary challenge against Buck in his solidly red district in eastern Colorado, three GOP sources told CNN – the latest sign of tension as the House GOP grapples with internal divisions

Buck has taken his escalating feud with [MT] Greene public in recent media appearances. On MSNBC over the weekend, he called Greene’s impeachment comments “absurd” and forcefully pushed back on Greene’s “untrue” suggestion that January 6, 2021, defendants are being mistreated.

Buck, who is a member of the ultra conservative House Freedom Caucus, has said he doesn’t believe the House has produced any evidence that Biden profited off his son’s foreign business deals and cast doubt on whether the evidence even exists – particularly significant since he a senior member on the [Judiciary] committee that would help oversee an official impeachment inquiry.

I guess this is why there was an announcement of an impeachment inquiry (by the august Speaker-of-the-House, no less!), but they haven’t scheduled a vote to do so, yet. With George Santos out of the picture the GOP might not have the votes to pull it off?

GOP to hold first impeachment hearing next week

The House Oversight and Accountability Committee will hold its first hearing on the impeachment inquiry into President Biden on Sept. 28, also announcing plans to subpoena the bank records of his son, Hunter Biden, as soon as this week.

Well, since they're holding a hearing, surely they have some evidence to present (since, per OP, they didn't have any)

When asked if the hearing would reveal new evidence, committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) said the hearing is not expected to cover new ground

Well, at least the GOP got the budget thingy figured out, so the government won't shut down two days after this hearing.

House conservatives sink procedural vote on advancing Pentagon funding bill

Well, enjoy the show, I guess.

Where did they get the power to issue subpoenas?
Did they hold “the vote” in the full House?
EDIT: Oh nevermind it’s the HOAC committee, they already hold this power.

He mishandled classified information. If that's enough to send Trump to prison for life and prevent him from becoming president again, surely Biden would deserve impeachment. But I know the Democrats are incapable of recognizing that it's just as serious when Biden does it.

If true, it is strange we're hearing nothing about it from the GOP and instead non-stop talk about the guy's son.

No, McCarthy needs every vote he can get [and 15 to 20 more, apparently] to avoid the shutdown.

True. But the law cares about intent.
If that's enough to send Trump to prison for life
The max sentence for the Espionage Act is 10 years and nobody gets that. 6-8 seems to be the more typical sentence, which granted would probably be a life sentence for Trump because of how old he is, but that's not the same thing as sending somebody to prison for life. And because of his advanced age and the special security concerns of him being a former President he's much more likely to simply serve house arrest.
and prevent him from becoming president again,
It wouldn't prevent him from becoming President again though. If he's elected, he's President.
But I know the Democrats are incapable of recognizing that it's just as serious when Biden does it.
The problem with that statements is that the same actions aren't in play here. Both of them, and of course Mike Pence, had classified documents they shouldn't have. For Pence and Biden it was a small amount, and a much larger amount for Trump. But Special Counsel Smith didn't seek an indictment simply for Trump having the documents. It was his refusal to give it back, complete with allegedly lying to NARA about documents he knew he still had. Pence and Biden on the other hand upon discovering classified documents turned them over right away, or at least that's what the current evidence suggests. If Trump had simply turned things back over, he wouldn't be in trouble in this particular case. So no, it's not just as serious because we are talking about very different fact patterns with only a superficial similarity.

Here is what I recognize.

The topic is about Biden, not trump! LOL There will be no comparisons of trump to the President in order to make a point because that is the way the moderators in this forum want it to be. Can't we have a discussion about how bad President Biden is without bringing up the other guy?

In the impeachment inquiry, all Republicans indicated that Trump should not be held accountable, even if convicted. Democrats voted unanimously that Hunter Biden should be held accountable if convicted.

So far, no evidence has been presented against Joe Biden.

Then people should stop using Trump whataboutisms to infer guilt by Biden.

He mishandled classified information.
1. There's no evidence that the President mishandled any of the 25 classified documents. In fact the ones a Penn Biden Center that were found in an envelope marked "VP Personal" were likely packed by mistake by GSA movers.
2. Winding up in possession of 25 documents of such little consequence that NARA wasn't even looking for them is hardly something for which we're going prosecute a sitting President. Heck, it took NARA and DOJ over a year to decide to put the hammer down on Donald as he willfully lied to them repeatedly about the 3,500 pages he stole.
3. None of Donald's document indictments are for "mishandling" unless you count the obstruction where he hid them in the bathroom.
If that's enough to send Trump to prison for life
It's not. His main charges in the documents case are obstruction and espionage.
and prevent him from becoming president again,
Even if convicted he could become President again. Not that it matters, he's not going to win anyway.
