  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My first post and wanted to say hello. Been lurking around for awhile and just love what I have been reading.
One question (of which i am sure there will be many), does anyone here attend both IC and a home church? I feel like I am being led to home (i like the term simple) church but my wife and kids love the church we belong to now. I do too but i see some things that worry me. For one they are talking about adding a gym and other things i see other IC's doing. What attracted me to this congragation is that they didn't care what the building looked like. They focused on being a "hospital for the hurting". I agree with that. But if we lose our focus we are nothing more than a "christian club".
My wife and i attended a small home church for about a year. It was nice but they were very inward and seemed like all the leader did was bring the same method of service to a home. He eventually built a two story addition to his home and called it "his upper room" Because of that and a few other things we left. My wife still isn't all that comfortable with just having fellowship with a simple church, but i think if i ease into it she would be more accepting.
By the way I am located on the ms gulf coast. Still trying to figure out how to put all the little extras on here.
Sorry for the long post,
your brother in Christ,

J.
