In my time spent here in SR, I have learned so much thanks to all of you! I appreciate the discussions that are carried on in a fashion that brings glory to God! It is a blessing to be a part of iron sharpening iron.

Why a "green thread" you ask? Because to me the color green symbolizes growth and newness!

Me too. Let me give you some of my history pre-CF. I was a very lonely girl with few friends. I was struggling with my best friend and her family leaving my church (they'd been attending for 14 years) and with my other best friend, my cousin, moving hours away. I was very discouraged with my church, my lack of friends, and with life in general. Going to church was difficult because I had nobody to talk to. Yes, we have plenty of older people in our church, but if they talk to me all they ask is how school/work is and then they usually end the conversation and move onto somebody their own age. Then, by searching for Calvinistic music groups on the internet, I found CF. I only joined to see if anybody had any good music groups. God had other plans. I began posting regularly, reading good biblical posts from others, and getting to know some of you. Now, I'm not quite as discourged as before because God has given me good friends here who encourage me in my walk with Christ. Thank you, everybody!

I love coming to this part of CF. It is a sanity break. I don't always engage in hugely theological stuff in semper, although there is so much opportunity, but it is somewhere I feel encouraged and refreshed, especially when discouraged by so many other sections. I love that I can come and ask a question here and get a sensible answer, that I know is backed by excellent biblical understanding.

Thanks for letting a stray anglican come and visit.

Erin,

I can understand how you feel. I have some very good friends at church who have children in much the same situation as you. They are now 12(girl) and 15(boy), homeschooled, and don't really have any friends their age at church. Most are either college age or adults.
I try to relate to them as best I can and treat them as not only brother and sister in Christ, but as friends.(my ex-wife always said I was a big kid and would never grow up, so I guess it comes in handy sometimes;)).

One thing I know about this is, everything, every situation we find ourselves in, is preparation for something later. Learn the lesson of Joseph.;)

One day, it will bear fruit.

Why green? Because it's my favorite color!

I'm not very useful around here, but I've learned a lot from you guys. So I would also like to show my appreciation for SR.

Never sell yourself short. I had to look up "paleoconservatarian"! ;)

I just discovered something. I've been on a lot of the other Congregation subforums and I have to admit that SR is the best. We have the most interesting, the most varied, and the most encouraging discussions. There is a comraderie here which is so amazing. I realize that for many a congregational thread might just be somewhere that you can ask theological discussions. But here, in SR, it truly is like a congregation-we fellowship, learn, exhort, have fun, and love eachother.

BTW, what other Congregational subforum has a Smile. . . . . . . . . thread quite like ours, where the members seemingly compete to put up the funniest jokes, pictures, or cartoons? And yes, I do realize that it is a competition:D. Why else would I post so often?:p

It's very interesting to hear you say this, because this hasn't always been the case - perhaps in the past ther has an over-emphasis on the so-called 5 points of Calvinism. (It is always a temptation for Calvinists to just talk about what distingushes us. :)) So I think you've been a great help in starting up interesting and varied discussions - witness the Dating and Modesty threads.

SR has always had a great group of people for as long as I've been here, but I do feel that our newer members have really added something special.
