  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A good impression.

Rev. Pike had recently graduated from the seminary and had been assigned his first church. He had driven most of Sunday and spent the night in a motel. Early Monday morning he had put on his best suit, expecting a welcome reception, and headed for the church. Unfortunately, being new to the area, he became lost. Around noon he finally found the church, only to be greeted with a note on the doors that read "Rev. Pike. Rev. Simmons passed away Saturday morning. His funeral at 12pm, Monday, City cemetery. You must officiate. Deacon Tate".

Panicked, Rev Pike took off toward town. Terrified about making a bad first impression, he broke every speed limit. About 10 minutes later, he spotted several men with some heavy equipment gathered around a grave. Rev. Pike jumped from his car, ran over to the grave and, breathing hard, began the service. 20 minutes later he concluded.

One of the workers turned to the other and said, "Now thats a dedicated preacher. Never before have I seen a preacher bless a septic tank".
