  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A game: Have you ever...

LOL

On several occasions - it's also possible that I've made a fool of myself, and I haven't even noticed!

One particular occasion I remeber was when some friends had some new bedroom furniture and they were giving us there old chest-of-drawers (this was years ago before I'd learned to keep my mouth shut a bit).
We were going up the stairs to look at their nice new furniture and I was happily waffling away about how I liked the solid wood drawers they were giving us, and how I hated the chipboard sort of plastic veneer MFI type furniture - and as I was finishing, we stepped into the bedroom.....and there in resplendent glory was their brand new pristine white MFI furniture! I could have died. My sentence kind of trailed of into a "well, of course your furniture is really nice...." kind of thing

Btw, I don't really think there's anything wrong with that kind of furniture..it's just nice wood is preferable if one can afford it....I actually can't afford to be snooty about it!

yes... at school our woodwork teacher built a KennCraft dinghy
his helpers were invited to learn to sail it
I was the keenest [and maybe the only] to have nerve
and was encouraged to learn how to tic-tack and steer

HYE sailed so close to the water that you could reach out and touch it ?

It was because of Bronchitis
and FRESH AIR was a part of my treatment
besides, Mum was busy indoors

Then, she had to chase me up the BRI
for my arm to be x-rayed and plastered

everyone signed my plaster

How long were you off school?

No, I've never been sailing, but have been in a rowing boat where I could touch the water. My son went sailing with his school.

HYE eaten frogs legs?

HYE wish you had taken a different career path?

No.... The way has been rough/smooth/delightful/terrifying/pleasurable
ONCE, was enough for so many experiences
It's best not to know what could have been
just as tomorrow will, always be tomorrow

HYE wished your life had turned out... in some 'different-way' [somewhere-else]

How long were you off school?

3-4 weeks five or so times a year from infants school to seniors
aged eleven I began smoking and this, chased the bronchitis away forever
ie: never since

7 weeks I had plaster on ... had x-rays twice more once it was on

That must have been pretty grim.

Amazing that about the smoking and bronchitus by the way. My brother has asthma, and says smoking helps that (I think it helps people relax their breathing or something) NOT BY THE WAY THAT IM ADVOCATING SMOKING IN CASE ANYBODY THINKS I AM. DISCLAIMER.
My grandmother gave up smoking BECAUSE she was getting bronchitus.

Tansy - where's your HYE question :o

Sorry Leytonstones - you missed my earlier question I think, and in the meantime, Davedajobauk's posted anoither question, and he and I entered into a little side- conversation, and so the questions have got out of synch.

I'll answer Dave's and post another one so it gets back into order.

To answer Dave's question: again yes and no. If my life had taken a different turn, it might have been just as bad or good...it's best just to look at the past, present and future in the light of Christ.

HYE lived abroad?
