Sin has a hypnotic rhythm to it, and will lull you to sleep because of it's familiar cadence. Sin is always enticing and only will it reluctantly give way. Our transgressions will cause us to draw back into the shadows of darkness. Those who have become entangled ride their dark horses into places where only the fallen rule. Filthy alleys filled with worthless trash, where the light cannot expose its poverty.
In recent years, our culture has been weakened greatly, it giving the people an uncertain sound; thoughts dulled by vain babbling, and practices enacted that are unfamiliar to the Christian faith. Many follow this well worn path of deceit, soon enough turned aside by the lies that destroy the soul.
Sin makes men stand in fear, becoming reclusive in his spirit. Many no longer seek security in God’s word, but in the labyrinth, and confusion of modern science and evil communication, soon enough to take on the form of the ungodly, covering themselves with the cloak of unrighteousness.
God appears to have become irrelevant to this culture; and for many, God doesn’t even exist. Christian’s have become lax in their desire to restrain sin, thus sin has become somewhat respectable. The finished work of the cross is challenged on every side, as the world of technology weakens our conviction. Has the glory and splendor of the cross, become an embarrassment, inadequate, an untrustworthy thing?
The havens and earth have only one perfect lover, that being our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His finished work at the cross was essential for our salvation. His truth shall master all who come to it in love, and faith. He leaves room for us to gain knowledge and understanding as He moves before us. His Holy Spirit ploughs the ground, plants the seed, as He nourishes our souls.
The answer for truth is the adequacy and trustworthiness of Jesus Christ. Those who have not lost their faith, neither the hope in His promises wait patiently for His return.
May this New Year bring each of you a shower of blessings from our Lord Jesus, and His Holy Spirit.
Happy New Year,
