Hey everyone. This is my first post here. I've had this belief for quite a while, yet I finally had a chance to put it down on paper. I'm very interested to see what other Christians think about it. Many people I've already shown it to say this is exactly the way they feel.

Religion is such an odd thing. On one side, it makes you feel like whoever 'invented' religion was the greatest businessman in the world. On the other hand, it seems that a higher being has to exist. Even scientists who support theories like the Big Bang believe in religion. One (I beleive it was Stephen Hawking) was talking about his beliefs in a higher being, because the Universe was so complicated, he thought there *must* be someone controlling this. I believe about evolution in the same way... it happened, but God made it happen. Back when the Bible was written, someone had an idea about how humans came into creation. There was no theory of evolution at the time, so they just wrote down that people thought. The Church abandoned the idea that the Earth was flat. The church abandoned the idea what the Earth was at the center of the Universe when presented with scientific fact, despite the fact they had been enforcing it (they *killed* people who disputed the idea!) for hundreds of years before that. It makes you think, if creationism had not been explicitly written down in the Bible, would most of the religions around the world have converted to evolutionism? Think about it... if it was written in the Bible that the Earth was flat, I wonder how many of you would believe that?

God put us here for a reason. The reason he put is here isn't to worship him. Seems like if he did he would be a bit self-centered ;-) I'm not saying that going to church takes up too much time and is unproductive, I just think that a) That time we can spend bettering humanity, God is God, he knows if we believe in him and respect him just by our actions. and b) I believe that preachers can tell you anything they want... God isn't in them. They're not ordained by God. God can tell me what to do just as easily as he can tell the preacher to tell me what to do. It eliminates the middleman. I think that Religion is one of the best businesses ever made. It's kinda like September 11th. There are people making so much $$ off of selling patriot stickers and stuff after that. Just because I don't buy patriot stickers doesn't mean I don't believe September 11th happened, it's just I don't need a cool sticker to be an American.
