Is that the mobile phone one; would it have the ad blocker; that's the main difference I like about SJ. Can the AB from SJ be ported over to Chrome; cause I've heard Chrome's blocker is not as good?

Even on the download page they rec the x32 version for windows at this point (it's the opposite for linux, because of diff required libraries), because the x64 eats RAM for breakfast. That probably will get corrected in time (x64 for Windows is pretty new), but for now, esp with Win10, I would stick to 32 bit.

Also, you can back up your SJ profile (probably "default" folder at %localappdata%\slimjet\userdata) and then delete (or move, or simply rename, to be very safe) the original profile and see what that does. But the first thing I would do is uninstall x64 and install x32.

When I d/led SJ they had no recommended version 32 or 64; so I picked the 64 figuring it would be faster; then when the update for SJ came in last week or so; it said not to use 64 unless you had 8GB of ram; I have 4, but I thought--it wotked so far with 64, so might as well stick with it--guess i should have got the 32.

I tried finding the default folder thru "run" but it couldn't find it. Is there a way to extract the bookmarks from the SJ file before I delete it as i would like to save them.

Well; that's what I did; d/l and installed the 32 bit version; but without uninstalling the 64 bit one first, as I thought maybe the bookmarks would "jump" over to the x32; and they did! Every once in a while I get lucky. So then uninstalled the 64 and SJx32 is working fine. Thanks for your help, Paul.

Awesome. Glad that worked. In Folder Options/View uncheck "Don't show Hidden files" or whatever it's called, because appdata is hidden. Then go to <username>\appdata\local\slimjet\userdata and find your profile. Bookmarks are in their own file, and backing them up locally is a very good idea.

Do you mean folder options in Slimjet or windows? I used to know where it was in windows; but every since the overhaul the house is a mess and i can't find a thing!

in control panel in windows. It's a good idea to have backups of much or all of the user profile, as well as an image of the entire drive or at least the system partitions. Aomei backupper does a good job on both. Syncback Free is another alternative for the user files.

Boy, I'll tell ya, things changed so much with win10 that it's hard to remember it all. Control panel is so much overtaken by "settings";which is right there in the start page, it's was down the end of a long list in file explorer, I pined it to the start page so I can find next time; not saying i wont forget it's there tho-lol. But there are a lot of niffty new features to win10; like for instance, the control panel, it used to open with all those hard to remember categorizes under each section like this screen shot:

and you had to figure out which section the thing or program (app) you wanted to adj. Now you could, in old windows(7-8-8.1 etc) find or make in to a list type of display: like the next page; this is too big to open in one page:

The best Control Panel was in Vista, which was before MS went to the asinine category view. They continually do things like that that make it harder and less useful. If W10 is like Vista-W8 you can just hit WinKey and then start typing what you're looking for. And in W8 on, for main functions like CP, I really like the WinKey-x quick menu.

But before I post the screen shot; do you know how easy it is now in 10? Screen shots used to have to be put into paint or word and then saved under a file name and type like png or jpg. Oh, that is so 20th century! Now. you have the window you want to take a shot of open; press prt scr or what ever your pc calls print screen; and point and paste where ever you want it to go; like even this insertion box here at CF. I was surprised it did that. Ok; here is the new control panel that I open after I pined it to the start page; seems like taking it out of file explorer; which the first screen shot is from; and pinning it to the start page brings it out of the win7 world it was in; into the new W10 world:

Much easier to see what your looking for: I was able to click on the "file explorer options" and easily find the pop up window: and the hidden files Paul was talking about.

In Win10; winkey just opens up the start page; but your right on the Winkey-x; it brings up the quick menu. I never had any of the eights, went from W7 to 10; so have never been very good at remembering any of the hot keys.

Here is a tutorial on Win 8's way of doing a screen shot:
It makes a file called "screen shot".
Win 10 does the same thing only puts it in a file in "OneDrive.

Like this: only with windows 10 you don't have to hit the winkey; somethings are getting easier with W10:

So, just for my own info; even tho I got my bookmarks into the new Slimjet; here is the userdata>files; but I don't see the bookmarks folder; is this the same as Win8? But it should be the same in w10 as this is SJ's file; right?

Ok; found the bookmarks; is there anyway of just coping the file and sticking it in documents as a text file; or somewhere else as a data file?

As you can tell, I like screen shots; when they are so easy to use; and when you hit prt sc; a notification pops out saying the screen shot is being saved in onedrive.

That's the whole point. It's simply a file, so copy it and store it somewhere. Because google's browser sync has been known to eat data.
