Marmaladegirl22,

God's Tribuation is to work patience in you to Wait upon the Lord and to turn from your own flesh nature through God's Spirit.

But it's a walk.

I hope your dreams go away soon. But if God uses them to put you more in The Fear of the Lord, then God is trying to Settle you or Save you IN HIM.

Deuteronomy 8
10 When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the LORD your God for the good land he has given you. 11 Be careful that you do not forget the LORD your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day. 12 Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, 13 and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied, 14 then your heart will become proud and you will forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 15 He led you through the vast and dreadful desert, that thirsty and waterless land, with its venomous snakes and scorpions. He brought you water out of hard rock. 16 He gave you manna to eat in the desert, something your fathers had never known, to humble and to test you so that in the end it might go well with you. 17 You may say to yourself, "My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me." 18 But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today. 19 If you ever forget the LORD your God and follow other gods and worship and bow down to them, I testify against you today that you will surely be destroyed. 20 Like the nations the LORD destroyed before you, so you will be destroyed for not obeying the LORD your God.

God is mercy and Love. God is patient aswell, but I think it would be foolish to think God does not set crooked paths straight. Ignore His words and live in the things of the flesh, and we do not expect punishment?

God Bless.

Does God ever punish nations and cities? Certainly, the bible is filled with stories like that. Sodom anyone? However, sometimes things just happen. Jesus seemed to think so in Luke 13:1-5 . . .

Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galilieans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. Jesus answered, "Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them -- do you think they were more guilty than all of the others living in Jerusalem? I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish."

He's saying that just because these people died didn't mean they were being punished by God or all of the people in those areas would've died. Bad things happen. Tragic, but that's the way it is.

Was Katrina from God specifically for something? I think not. When God wants to wipe out a place, He's more thorough than that. As someone here already mentioned, the French Quarter would've been the place for some serious Sodom and Gomorah-izing.

Peace.

Many times we blame things on GOD and he is not amused no....

BondGirl,

Hello there.

Who hinders or allows the Destroyer to break in because of strife and
debates and the like?
Do a word study.

Jer 30:12-14
12 For thus saith the LORD, Thy bruise is incurable, and thy wound is grievous.

13 There is none to plead thy cause, that thou mayest be bound up: thou hast no healing medicines.

14 All thy lovers have forgotten thee; they seek thee not; for I have wounded thee with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the multitude of thine iniquity; because thy sins were increased.

1 Cor 10:10
10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
KJV

Ex 12:23
23 For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.

That's why it's so important to CARRY OUT CROSS AND STAY ON IT....so that we won't carry out the lusts of the flesh nature of Satan which is:
1. murmur ye
2. iniquity
3. sins were increased

Ever wonder and see, in your quite time that the New testament is talking about what the Old Testament has already warned us about?
If we don't murmur against the Lord with others or about others,
Jer 30:12-14 will be taken care of by Loving God with all your heart
who doesn't want us to murmur against Him and sin to increase to your
sorrows! If you love God with all you have you can with confidence say that
it's fulfilled in how I LOVE GOD AND LOVE MY NEIGHBOR. If you murmur against God, but to you you believe it's someone else causing you grief God
sees it as your NOT LOVING HIM....but only murmuring against Him and accusing your neighbor.

And, what kind of LOVE IS THAT?

ITA! ...and I still say that we place "blame" on GOD far too often. Many times it is the devil.... GOD "allows" things to happen sometime...but does this in turn make it "his fault"?

BondGirl,

If we ever lose the Sov'ty of God we lose Our Savior in His Love.

I like your signature line, it's a pondering thought! So thanks!

If we lose the love of God in a bid to preserve his sovereignty then we might as well just admit that the difference between God and Hitler is moot. I'd rather have a God who isn't sovereign that an unloving God who goes around sending hurricanes to people he doesn't like. That's a God worth resisting, frankly.

I don't believe in a God who controls everything; I believe in a God who gives us the freedom to choose. If you put your hand in a fire it burns; so don't put your hand in a fire. God's not going to come and stop you getting burned. If you live in Hurricane Alley, hurricanes are likely. If you don't maintain the levees, they will burst. If you ruin your own environment with too much carbon emissions, don't expect God to come and save you.

artybloke,

Well I didn't say the whole Bible in that one sentence now did I?,...chuckles.
You should read my BLOG it's called "Warning".......it will help!

You got the Love of God, but your leaning a bit against "the Sov'ty" of God in Judging God. God knows and is compassionate with our trying to balance it all.........he knows our weaknesses when we are trying to understand!

Read what I wrote!

The thing about "Sovereignty" is that in most human minds, it's about power. God can do anything he likes because he's bigger than everyone else. Not unlike the US Government who thinks because it's got the biggest army, it can invade any country it likes and tell the rest of the world what to do while doing nothing to solve its own problems of pollution & poverty.

God as a kind of rampant capitalist, in other words.

But a God of love is not interested in showing us how powerful he is. A God of love is even prepared to give up that power, to come to earth as a little vulnerable baby that grew to be a man who died a horrible and shameful death on the cross in order that we might be able to encounter him in love, not out of fear.

That's the God I follow. Not George Bush on a cloud.
