A Couple Of Thoughts

In responding to Jonathan: Something that works! Try this for OCD! - Christian Forums , I got to thinking---Is OCD perhaps a form of PTD (Post Traumatic Disorder)?

This is not meant to be funny...but how many have seen Criminal Minds on TV? Sometimes I think it would be extremely helpful if someone, somewhere could accurately 'profile' me.

PTSD and OCD are both currently in the category of anxiety disorders. OCD may be put into another category in the DSM V which is the diagnostic and statistical maual of mental health disorders.

They both respond to exposure therapy, as most anxiety disorders do, but one has to know what one is looking at and differtiate normal thoughts that come infrequently from intrusive thoughts. Some thoughts repond to cognitive restructuring and tohers only respond to exposure. That is the challenge for therapists and their clients

OCD can co exist with other disorders. Experts can pick the disorders apart, peel away the layers and treat symptoms together or one at a time.
