  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

1.Is fanfiction allowed, as long as we give credit ot the owners of teh characters?

Hey Xtra:wave: i don't know if there's any specific rules about fan fiction, but i don't think it would be a problem, considering that there's already tons of movies and books RPGs in the CF RPG section. and while RPGs aren't exactly fan fiction, they're similar.

2.Is there anything that we can't put in our stories?

you can't post anything that violates the general rules of CF, like profanity, sexually explicit descriptions, and other inappropriate stuff, (see this link if you want to read the list: http://www.christianforums.com/faq.php?faq=rule_3#faq_rule_3_2tp) but beyond that i don't think there are any rules about what you can and can't put in a story.

hope that helps,

Bethany :)

I find it interesting that sexuality is so explicitly mentioned, whereas violence doesn't seem to be much of a problem unless it is delivered in the form of an actual threat to another user...

Oh well, the person who made up these rules probably didn't have creative writing in mind, but was thinking of debates.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that something must be terrible amiss when the human body and God's precious gift of sexuality is demonized while bloodshed and violence are perceived as perfectly permissible.
