Note: this post talks about mental health issues, but I think it best fits here. Feel free to move it to the MH forum if it belongs there.

We just had a very good conversation with a nurse. She is a believer, but didn't disclose her faith till at the end of the conversation (I live in a non-religious institution, and while I knew she is part of the pastoral workgroup, I didn't know her faith). I don't remember much of the actual conversation since in reality it was another personality (for those who didn't read my intro post, we have multiple personality disorder) having the conversation, but it was very touching and moving to be able to talk faith with someone who is non-judgmental yet a believer. This really encouraged me to go discuss our faith with the pastor, but I am not sure how I'm going to go about that. You see, in all honesty, I am not the main personality, and the main personality does not have a religious identity (she was raised atheist but really struggles with her faith). The main holds me responsible for carrying out our spirituality (and someone else who is spiritual but not religious, which creates some trouble). We all want to come closer to God, and the main, who had the conversation, said she is coming closer and closer to integrating a christian identity into her own, which I love. I am really glad we were able to share our new (well, not too new, but new in real-life practise) faith with someone. We will see the pastor for something else that has to do with our past on Thursday, and we agreed on asking her to discuss faith with us some other time (when we've discussed the how-tos with our therapist).

Welcome! You have an interesting story. This good website has a multiple personality section that you might find helpful. Help for people traumatized as children. Dissociative identity disorder: healing your inner child / alter / insider / inner pain

Jesus has a very soft heart for people who are broken in any way. God ensured that part of His ministry while He was on earth was to minister to people rejected and scorned by the Jewish mainstream society.

Jesus, aware of this, withdrew from there. And many followed him, and he healed them all and ordered them not to make him known. This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah:

“Behold, my servant [Jesus] whom I have chosen,
my beloved with whom my soul is well pleased
.
I will put my Spirit upon him,
and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles [non-Jews].
He will not quarrel or cry aloud,
nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets;
a bruised reed he will not break,
and a smoldering wick he will not quench,
until he brings justice to victory;
and in his name the Gentiles will hope.
” (Matthew 12:15-21)

I'm delighted you had an encouraging conversation with a believer, and I pray that the Lord will continue to gently lead you into healing, restoration and all good things. His plans for good for you, to give you hope and a future, will never change.

Thank you both for your words of faith and encouragement. I do know Jesus ministered a lot to those who were rejected and broken. I love those Bible verses.

The host/main personality just had another conversation with another nurse (a non-believer, but she is very encouraging), who encouraged me to seek out ways to practise my faith, and thought the host and I would be able to come closer together. She also encouraged us to talk to the pastor, which the host did not feel ready to because I am likely not allowed to talk to the pastor as myself (because this will not help our integration into one personality). I am not sure though.

Again, thanks very much fo rencouraging me in my belief. I pray that God will lead us all, including you, on a path of faith and healing.

@John: I did not go through ritual abuse fortunately. It was other trauma, not even considered severe by most people, but we have disabilities and therefore are likely more sensitive to traumatization. I may at one point share more but this is not the right subforum for that. By the way, our pastor is a mental institution pastor so she may have some experience with MPD.
