  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Look through the book of Matthew and read any verse that mentions Peter. What changes do you see in Peter's faith over the course of his time with Jesus?

In Matthew 4:18 we read where Simon called Peter was casting a net into the sea, for he was a fisherman. His natural gift would assist him in his calling.

In Matthew 16:16 Simon Peter tells Jesus that He is the Christ, the Son of the living God. This was a great confession of his faith in Jesus.

In Matthew 17:24 they that receives tribute money came and questions Peter concerning Jesus paying tribute.

In Matthew 18:21 Peter went to Jesus asking him how often shall his brother sin against him and he forgive them. Peter was concerned about how he should treat his brother.

In Matthew 19:27 Peter was being the spokesman for the disciples. He said to Jesus, Look, we have forsaken all and followed thee; what shall we have therefore? In other words Peter was concerned about what reward were they going to receive for doing all of this! He was self-seeking.

In Matthew 26:37 we find that Jesus took Peter with him in his time of sorrow and heavinesswhich says to me he was a great support. In verse 58 Peter follows Jesus afar off and sits with the servants not wanting to be associated with Jesus. In verse 69 we see Peter trying to be incognito Peter sat without in the palace and a damsel said to him that he was with Jesus. In these times he was timid and cowardly.

The changes I see in Peter's faith over the course of time with Jesus was this...HE KEPT GROWING! Jesus compares his disciples as branches that requires years of growth and cultivation before it brings forth
much fruit. John 15:2-3 NLT Jesus said, "He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the WORD I have spoken to you." So the word for you today
is KEEP GROWING!
