  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Don't leave out prayer. Please don't even think prayer is not relevant -- it is essential in my opinion.

I am turning 66 in a few weeks. On my 60th birthday, at a weight of 237, I asked G-d for the birthday gift of weight loss. By my 61st birthday, He had helped me to lose 50 pounds. By my 62nd birthday, He had helped me lose 50 more pounds. By my 64th, I had lost nearly 120, and I was encouraged to make it to 120, because it would be just over half my original weight. Yes, by the grace of G-d and His help, I have lost 120 pounds, and my weight now fluctuates between 117 and 119 and has for the last two years.

"How did you do it?" I am constantly asked. I can't take any credit. He helped me! I felt drawn to do certain things (like no more sugared-Pepsi) and to eat certain things (like more fruit, of all things). Readings and written advice would just "fall in my hands." I seemed to know what to follow and what to ignore. Ask. He will help you without surgery and without pills.

Let me add: I stayed away from cameras when I was overweight but not anymore -- as of recently! There is a photo of me with my weightloss, taken a few days ago, here, if you click my name above.
