  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello,

I am a complete beginner to art, that is, my artistic capabilities (pertaining to drawing) is that of a little better than stick figures. I am wondering if there are any good books, etc. that teach the fundamentals of pencil sketching for beginners. That is, at a elementary level. Basically, stick figures to more advance, if I'm making sense.

I really want to draw, I just don't know where to start. And even "beginner" books look too advance.

I've never really looked at Drawing books, but you could always try "Drawing for Dummies." It sounds simple. :D

I think you should just find some pictures you like, and try redrawing them. You can choose simple stuff like cartoons to get started. Or, if you want, start out with tracing. It doesn't sound like it would help, but it does help you learn to control your lines and pressure, which is really important. And the more you draw, the better you'll get! Then you can go back and look at your old stuff and laugh. xD
