The heart attitude of a BAC determines his eternal future!
It’s not nearly enough that he has received the Holy Spirit and has become a new creation in Christ
(2 Corinthians 5:17).

BACs were chosen and called to co-operate with the Holy Spirit unto holiness! Receiving God’s grace and the Holy Spirit is just the beginning!

The BAC has a trinity of everything he needs
to be victorious (a successful overcomer)
during the process of his salvation:
1 – the indwelling Holy Spirit
2 – the new creation (his new self)
3 – the word of God
So, the BAC has no excuse for failing
to satisfy Father God.

The many WARNINGS in the NT are for …
the BAC who has chosen to live in habitual sin,
or who may later choose to live in a sinning lifestyle,
or who just falls away from the faith,
or who rejects Christ and falls from grace,
or who draws back to perdition,
or who does not endure during Christian persecution (coming soon),
or who takes the deadly mark of the beast
(also coming soon).

“He who loves his life will lose it
(his life: eternal life)”
(John 12:25)
Stronger parallel verses ...
Matthew 16:25-26, Mark 8:35-37, Luke 9:23-26

A BAC is required to continually repent of his sins.
This is a sign of one who has the right heart attitude before God. He is required to be a habitual repenter, not a habitual sinner! (To repent means to be sorry about our sins, to turn away from them, and do everything we can to never do them again.)

If a BAC has the right heart attitude towards God,
he will be led by the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:14),
and he will be doing such things as …
1 – reading the word and praying
2 – enduring in the faith
3 – repenting of his sins
4 – practicing righteousness
5 – practicing obedience
6 – loving, forgiving, not condemning
7 – living dedicated lives of holiness
… so he will be seen as one who is
living righteously in God’s eyes.

The Righteous man shall live by faith.

Romans 1: NASB

16For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 17For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “BUT THE RIGHTEOUS man SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.”

Unbelief and Its Consequences

18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. 20For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. 21For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.

Amen and the Apostle Paul elaborated on these gifts of God by His Grace amen!

And being blessed of these Divine gifts said thus:

Romans 8: NASB

26In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; 27and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

28And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. 29For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; 30and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.

31What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 32He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? 33Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies;34who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. 35Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36Just as it is written,
“FOR YOUR SAKE WE ARE BEING PUT TO DEATH ALL DAY LONG;
WE WERE CONSIDERED AS SHEEP TO BE SLAUGHTERED.”

37But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The heart attitude of a BAC determines his eternal future!
Hi BCsenior, in a very secondary way/from a particular POV, I suppose that could be true. However, the far more important question to ask is,

"what determines the heart attitude of a true Christian"?

The answer:

"God, when He quickens/changes our hearts, regenerates us, and then causes us to be born again, such that we become His workmanship/masterpiece as wholly new creatures in Christ .. e.g. Ezekiel 36:26-27; John 3:3; 1 Corinthians 2:12-16; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:8-10."

Before He gave us new hearts & new spirits, the Holy Spirit to indwell us, as well the mind of Christ, sinning was what came naturally to us. Afterwards, the opposite is true, so much so that if we are constantly failing to obey Him/have little to no desire to please Him 24/7, then the question shouldn't be, are we failing as BAC's, the real question we should be "are we BAC's" (IOW, did God ever cause us to be "born again"?)

Non-Christians normally ~act~ like non-Christians. Christians normally ~act~ like the Christians. If we do not act like Christians, IOW, if there is no external evidence/proof of the inner changes that God makes in all of us who are His, then we should consider ourselves "Christians" in name only (since our "claim" of being a BAC would amount to nothing more than that).

Yours and His,
David

Yes, more than likely anyway. Just "claiming" to be a Christian & going to church doesn't make you a Christian/"BAC" anymore than going to MacDonald's makes you a hamburger ;)

Also, the Bible tells us that there are at least two distinct types of people who always have/always will populate the visible church, yes? .. e.g. Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43.

Yours and His,
David

What was NA churches again? Forgot? Northern Australia?

But the above quote from you is a very good OP topic.

Are all pew stuffers saved? Don’t mean to have the language be insulting but eye opening.

Reminds me of the Words of Jesus in the parable of soils and wheat and tares.

None of the above verses say anything about losing salvation, or conditions to meet beyond receiving the gift of eternal life in order to not perish.

Your claim is directly opposed to what Jesus so very clearly in John 10:28.

"and I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish".

According to your theory, Jesus should (and would have) said this;

"I give them eternal life, and AS LONG AS THEIR HEART ATTITUDE IS RIGHT, they shall never perish."

Or even this:

"I give them eternal life, and IF THEIR HEART ATTITUDE IS RIGHT, they shall never perish."

But the simple fact is that He NEVER gave ANY conditions beyond receiving the gift of eternal life for not perishing.

We know that those who believe HAVE (as in current possession) eternal life, from John 5:24, 1 John 5:11 and 13. So we can conclude that the gift is given WHEN one believes.

So, John 10:28 applies as a guarantee or promise the MOMENT WHEN one believes.

From that moment, the one who believed shall never perish.

There is no other way to understand or interpret John 10:28.

But sadly, many will either ignore that verse, or flat out reject it in favor of their own biases and unbiblical principles.

A glaring fact is that there are no verses that plainly state that salvation can be lost, or that a saved person can ultimately perish. Zero.

Any and every verse that seems to, or suggests loss of salvation, must be reconciled with John 10:28. And that means that no verse can mean or suggest that salvation can be lost.

Salvation belongs solely to God and Christ. It's theirs to give. We cannot negate what they've done. And when they give the gift (Rom 6:23), it is unreturnable. In fact, it is irrevocable (Rom 11:29).

But so many will simply treat the gift of eternal life as some kind of inanimate object, much like a cheesy Christmas present under their tree, or a birthday gift, and make all kinds of stupid claims about returning the gift, losing the gift, forfeiting the gift, etc, ad nauseum.

They give the same kind of stupid argument about the sealing ministry of the Holy Spirit, which specifically says that those who have believed are sealed with Him who is a deposit for a GUARANTEE of their inheritance for the day of redemption, as God's possession.

Eph 1:13,14
13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,
14 who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.

Note the red words in v.13 refers to a completed action, not an ongoing action, as in "must continue to believe in order to.....".

Note the blue words in v.13 that describes who this seal is, which is NOT some kind of inanimate object, but the living Holy Spirit Himself.

Note the green words in v.14 that describe WHY He seals those who have (completed action) believed; His indwelling presence is a GUARANTEE. And what does His indwelling presence guarantee? The believer's inheritance. Clearly referring to eternity.

And WHEN is this inheritance guaranteed FOR? The day of redemption. How can this be anything other than a guarantee of one's eternal security?

And WHY is the believer's inheritance guaranteed? They are God's possession.

All of this just screams eternal security.

But, just note the negative comments that will follow this post. And the failure to refute from Scripture, or the outright failure to rightly divide the word of truth in disagreeing with this post.

And what about non-BAC Christians?
In that case, the descriptor "Christian" is a misnomer.

Only those born again (regenerated) are actual Christians. Everyone else is a fake, a phony, or just highly deceived.

In order to not perish in the lake of fire, one MUST possess eternal life. John 10:28 and Rev 20:15.

Everyone else will be cast into the lake of fire. The reason is they didn't receive the free gift. Rom 6:23

Before I provide the correct understanding of 1 John 3:9, let's see what Paul said about this subject in 1 Cor 5:
1 - It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his father’s wife. (incest w/stepmom) Is this not a "sinning lifestyle"? Sure is.
5 - hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord.

Notice that Paul is speaking about one of God's painful discipline (Heb 12:11), that is, being turned over to Satan for destruction of the flesh (physical death). And notice also what his "end" will be: "may be saved on the day of the Lord".

9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people
10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world.
11 But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who is considered to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people.

OK, the red words indicate a lifestyle.
The blue words indicate that Paul isn't referring to unbeliever immoral people.
The green words clearly indicate that Paul is referring to immoral believers.

The NIV really screwed up v.11. It says "claims to be" but the Greek says "is considered to be". And the passive voice indicates that such an immoral believer is considered by others to be a believer. And v.9 and 10 makes clear that Paul sure isn't commanding believers to avoid immoral unbelievers. He even says that to do so would require one to leave this world.

So don't kid courself. Believe Paul and realize that believers CAN and DO life immoral lifestyles, unfortunately.

1John 3:9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.

Strawman - Doesn't happen
Sure it does. As Paul clearly communicated.

So, what does John mean in this verse? We see the words "born of God" and "God's seed". What does that refer to? It refers to our born again status. There is something literal that has been RE-generated or born AGAIN. Notice what I emphasized here. Something has been changed. Not to make a long winded sermon here, but when God said "let US make man in OUR image", God was speaking of the Trinity, not blond hair and blue eyes. So God made man trichotomous; body, soul, and human spirit. However, God also told man that "in the day that you eat of the tree, you SHALL DIE". Was this a warning of physical death? Obviously NOT. For Gen 5:5 says Adam lived 930 years. So what actually died "on that day"? His human spirit. The part of him that is required for worship and communication.

For Jesus told the Samaritan woman at a well this:
John 4:24 - God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”

Note: check biblehub.com and you will find that of 28 English translations, only 3 capitalize the word "spirit". NIV, Christian Standard Bible, and Contemporary English Version.

Given the bulk of the translations not capitalizing that word, it seems obvious that Jesus was speaking about the human spirit. So, He was pointing out that in order to worship (have fellowship) with God, one must worship Him in their human spirit (it must be alive) and in truth (God's way of worship).

So, back to 1 Jn 3:9. John is saying, and not real clear in the English, that no one can sin from the RE-generated human spirit, which has been born AGAIN.

While the Bible doesn't specify, I believe the place of the indwelling Holy Spirit is the born AGAIN new human spirit.

It is God's seed that causes this new birth or RE-birth of the formerly dead human spirit.

When we speak of unbelievers as being spiritually dead (Eph 2:1), that refers to our human spirit. When Adam's human spirit died "on that day", he still carried the genetics for it, and in human reproduction, that dead human spirit is passed on to his children. Which is why everyone is born spiritually dead.

If you don't like that explanation, fine. Here's another one. If each person is born with a living human spirit, at the FIRST sin, that human spirit dies. So, either way, man's problem is a dead human spirit, which needs to be RE-born, RE-generated, born AGAIN.

1John 2:19 They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.
There is another explanation of "did not really belong to us". Rather than mean "seemed to be saved, but wasn't really saved", as it seems you think it means, it refers to believers who are in false doctrine.

Here's some evidence, from Acts 15-
1 Certain people came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the believers: “Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved.”
2 This brought Paul and Barnabas into sharp dispute and debate with them. So Paul and Barnabas were appointed, along with some other believers, to go up to Jerusalem to see the apostles and elders about this question.
5 Then some of the believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees stood up and said, “The Gentiles must be circumcised and required to keep the law of Moses.”
6 The apostles and elders met to consider this question.

Now note the actual discussion-
7 After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them: “Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe.
8 God, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us.
9 He did not discriminate between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith.
10 Now then, why do you try to test God by putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear?
11 No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”

And, the conclusion-
19 “It is my judgment, therefore, that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God.
20 Instead we should write to them, telling them to abstain from food polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from the meat of strangled animals and from blood.

From this context, it is clear that there were saved Jews who preached that circumcision was necessary for salvation. No different that believers of today who preach that one must be water baptised to be saved.

Such false teaching means that they don't really "belong" to those who aren't into false teaching.

Consider Acts 20:30 - Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them.

Believers DO get into false teaching and doctrines.

2 Tim 4:3,4 This describes believers
3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.
4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
