The mathematician (Charlie) watches a witness select a person from a police lineup. He explains that he believes that the system is flawed because the witness assumes they have to choose a person from the lineup just as when one says "pick a number", the other person asssumes it has to be a number from the sequence of numbers. In truth the person said "pick a number", so it could be any number. Some of the logic he uses in his explanation is flawed (come on-it's Hollywood), but the whole "pick a number" situation is interesting.
