  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is a joke?

If you consider NORAD standing down on that day when only 2 men have the authority to instruct them to do so within our government...a joke, then yes this is a joke.

Bin Laden did it, he hoped by doing so Muslims will revolt on their governments and join his Jihad against Israel and America.

If they have 100% proof that he did it via the hijackers, why is it that 6 of the 19 were found to be still living in Arabia 3 years later...and why is it that 2 of the videos that were released not actually bin laden in the video?

If accusations were to be made, you'd think they'd at least have the courtesy to show us the right person in the video and not some other random muslim cleric. :)

maybe because they didn't correctly identify the terrorists.

or maybe because the terrorists share their names with many different persons, most Saudis have their tribe name as their surname and they probably have millions of cousins of the same tribe.

also some tribes depends on where they live tend to choose specific names and the name is very popular in their tribe or region, so you would find hundreds of people who have the same full name.

If so many people were sharing the name, why did they link the names to pictures of the "suspects" then? If so many people are sharing a name that it's difficult to determine which one blew up a building, how did they go about choosing which 1 of the 40 to use in the picture?

Dunno dude I'm not into conspiracy theories, blame it on the CIA. They couldn't find Bin Laden or Saddam.

even Zarghawe's location, the AlQaeda leader in Iraq was found by the Jordanian intelligence agency not CIA they must suck really bad.

my cousin a student in the USA was delayed a year because his name is exactly the same name of a terrorist and your government refused to give him visa until he prove that he isn't that terrorist, ridiculous huh?

all the people of the tribes of Ghamidi and Zahrani are banned from entering the US and there are millions of Ghamidis and Zahranis

because many terrorists happen to be from these 2 tribes.

I voted "other" because I doubt the mainstream media has everything exactly correct, but I think they are close. There are also things that would not be reported in the media due to reasons of national security in a case like this.

That's the way I feel as well. Obviously the mainstream media doesn't have all of the answers, but I don't believe the planes were holograms or that George Bush bombed the WTC and Pentagon.

There are serious, unanswered questions about 9/11 - everybody realises that. But part of the reason "9/11 Truther" has come to be synonymous with "UFO Abductee" is morons claiming planes never crashed, Israeli-built robots flew them in the first place, and buildings can't collapse just because you bisect them with exploding jets.

My one abiding question that informs my skepticism of the official story is the one I asked the day it happened: where the heck were the F-15s?

By 2001, they were sufficiently aware of terrorism, and terrorist activity, that it simply doesn't make sense that FOUR jets could be hijacked and flown as far off-course, all headed for heavily-populated strategic targets, as these were, without the USAF scrambling fighter jets in time to at least intercept/bring down three of them (although it should have gotten all four, of course). "Caught unaware" is acceptable for coppers and civilians, not the flippin' Air Force!

I (and doubtless millions of other people) was thinking that after the first plane hit - "where are the F-15s?" -well, I was yelling it at the tv when the second plane hit the exact same target a full 15 minutes later!

Remember that these planes weren't diverted from a nearby airport....Kennedy or Newark....where the flight plan deviation would have seemed minor enough to lull the Air Force to sleep. They'd been commandeered after leaving Logan, which means Command/Control had to know they were looking at multiple skyjackers (ie, a major terrorist action) before the WTC was hit.

If they weren't - if I'm supposed to believe they were simply caught napping - then no credible first-world military power would have allowed a single member of the brass to continue on at their post. But we never saw one jet intercepted - nor the perfectly-warranted wave of forced resignations, prosecutions or even a proper investigation that should have ensued. The Air Force failed, and failed miserably, at the most elementary function of civilian air defence and were never called to account for it?

It never made sense. And it still doesn't.

And neither did a myriad of now-forgotten stories like this one.

And that is what MY "tinfoil hat" 9/11 skepticism is based on. I offer no theories, but I sure have a bucket load of questions with no answers.

I'm sure there's also a good deal of hiding government ineptitude.

This is what is called the myth of government hypercompetency. The attack caught us completely off guard and we had no idea how to properly deal with it. We simply weren't set up for that sort of situation. Our air defenses at the time was still stuck in a reduced cold war mode. We were looking for threats coming from the outside. Think of the air defense more as a donut. There were only a couple active fighters capable of responding in time given sufficient warning.

After the first plane hit, we still had no idea what was going on. There was confusion over whether or not it was an accident, and even if it wasn't I doubt anyone had any clue of what was in store. When the second plane hit, then things really went crazy. We knew it was a coordinated attack and that there could be more to come. But there's thousands of planes in the air, many abandoning flight plans, and all trying to land asap. It threw everything into utter chaos. There was simply no real way to easily pick out the hijacked planes out of the others before it was too late.

The attack exposed massive inadequacies of our air defense system as well as our air travel system in general.

From what I have seen, there seems to have been quite a lot of government incompetence, more so in how they handled the aftermath than the day of. Basically a little incompetency, with more and more piled on top to try to hide the original. The government, in quite a few cases (such as the one listed above), acted as if they were trying to hide something. I don't think they were trying to hide their plans to take out the WTC, but that they were trying to hide the metaphorical photo of them with their pants down, but it still added fuel to the conspiracy theory fire.
