What a tough situation to be put in, while I don't know the specifics. It sounds like you did the best you could and if you were following what you believed the Holy Spirit to be guiding you to do then, I would be at peace with that if it were me.
Ok - so did yo get out of there without punching anyone? It was beyond tough!!!
LOL!! I certainly did learn to make the best of it, that's for sure. I also learned that it's hard to flourish in a place where you are not happy, and God sees that. He will either give you the grace to bear a situation or move you elsewhere.Ok - so did yo get out of there without punching anyone?
Seriously, is there a lesson or two you learned being there, sometimes the Lord will put us in situations that we don't like, but later see his reason/s.
You’re darn right it was the correct way. You honorably took the right road in dealing with this, sacrificing your job over an organization that was dishonest at best. Kudos to you and your honesty and integrity. Was this the correct way to handle the situation? Is that a good way to love our neighbors (meaning the potential customers I sent elsewhere)? I also did what I could to provide a good service to the current customers at the time, at least to the best of my own ability.
Wow, I never thought about it in this perspective. Thank you so much! I interpreted it as disloyalty to the organization when I read the teaching about positive vs. negative speaking. You’re darn right it was the correct way. Loyalty is a two-way street. As long as the organization remains loyal to its creed (i.e. Christian in this case), its employees should be loyal to the organization. Seems to me like the organization you were working for didn't do that.I interpreted it as disloyalty to the organization when I read the teaching about positive vs. negative speaking.
No, they didn't. It was really shocking, I've never encountered anything like that before. Efforts to speak up were met with manipulation that made my work situation worse! I believe that is called retaliation. And I didn't even realize until later that's what was happening.Loyalty is a two-way street. I am curious about what sort of things were going on that did not reflect Christ in your opinion? Sometimes management and staff have a different picture of things. I was once called "un-Christian" in a staff meeting where I announced a change in how staff were going to be compensated, moving from a strict salary to a productivity-based compensation. I didn't listen and went ahead with the change. I can imagine the person writing on CF a post that management was un-Christian and didn't listen to employee concerns. Never mind that the staff made more money after the change than before. Apparently, a person thought Jesus is against one getting paid for how much work they do. Go figure. So, what sort of thing did you perceive as not reflecting Christ? Perhaps more detail is needed before going to deeply into advising on the appropriateness your response.I once worked for a non-profit organization that shocked me with the things that were going on within it. It was a Christian organization, but the way that things were going on did not at all reflect Christ.
