  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yes, you do have to rest. God told us to rest on the seventh day, period. The fact that He structured His metaphoric description of creation to fit this framework reinforces this teaching.

I think it's important to realize that *if* God did intend
to use figurative language to describe His creating processes, that in
no way would negate His commands during the creation week and following.

Just because you believe God intended to use figurative or non-literal language does not lessen the infaliblity nor inerrancy of the account.

Up until recently I've equated "figurative" or "non literal" with liberal (ie. Genesis was written by some bored exiled Jews and God had nothing to do with it)..so it's given me the heebie jeebies. But I've come to realize the important thing is what God's Word says and what God intended to convey..and if it is figurative/non-literal..so be it.

If it should be taken literally..then so be it. I'm still studying the issue myself.

Hope that makes sense. :)
