Yes, she did. She said use it to raise funds for the poor, etc. Placing monetary donation in the stead of decorations. She also talked about opening our homes to neighbors fior refreshments and games at that festive time of year as a witness, and what type of gifts(books, educational gifts) for children. She never, ever said not to celebrate as some would have us believe, but only gave alternatives to the unwise and over spending that was such a concern in those(and these) days.

Why do we need to celebrate it at all? Is it not following the doctrines of men to arbtrarily do so? Why do we think God is honoured or glorified by our man made celebrations that were not commanded by Him?

This is where Romans 14:4-6 comes in otherwise why have these verses? Because man does esteem different days outside of a commandment of God...

Remember, God is glorifed by what we say, do and believe about a certain thing or day. If I keep the seventh day Sabbath holy and have a Bible fellowship and potluck on Sunday does that mean I'm worshiping the sun god on Sunday because somehow Sunday belings to him?

Without doing a timeline I don't know, but probably not 1700 years.



And God constantly sent prophets to try to correct them.




Like I said, I just find it interesting.

That's fine. But you can't say that because something didn't happen as soon as you think it should have, that it wasn't from God.

I don't see why it's being made into such a big deal.

There are plenty of things that we celebrate that are man made traditions - Weddings, Graduations, Birthday's, etc. If one doesn't want to celebrate the holidays that's fine. Trying to turn it into an issue of allegiance to God or worship however, is going too far.

We have bigger fish to fry honestly.

Do not people today make idols of the holiday celebrations? And then justify it by claiming it is in honour of our Lord?

You say that you don't do what the others of the world do on that day.... do you decorate a tree or you house in a special way? Do you buy presents for others? Do you bear false witness by singing songs proclaiming the day to be His birth?

While I understand the resistance to seeing Christmas and easter for what they are as it is a well intrenched tradition, we are not to be of this world and what they do. We already are swimming hard against the current of Sunday keeping as Christians why float temporarily downstream with this issue??

Don't the Sunday keepers say the same things? What's the big deal, we're worshipping God aren't we? It's fine if you want to keep Sabbath but to make it a salvational issue is going to far...

Does this verse not contradict with Proverbs 14?

Prov 14:12
There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Obviously the meaning of the verse in Romans is not what everyone likes to use it for... to say that 'you think and behave your way and I'll do the same and we are both good.' One way is right and one is wrong even though we have the ability to choose our path.

I find it interesting that God would "allow" His followers to, say, worship on the wrong day, tolerate infant baptism, etc, by not showing Christians this "light" until He was ready to do so. If these doctrines were essential, why wouldn't God give us a prophet or something to set all these things straight at once long before Ms. White came along?

Where are your thoughts? This is the question one must ask.

If I fellowship on Sunday and have Bible teachings and cookouts all in the fellowship of Christ am I actually worshiping the sun god?

If everyone gets December 25th off and I chose to gather in Christian fellowship, have cookouts and Bible studies am I worshiping the sun god?

Do we hide in our homes on December 25th and every Sunday because these days beling to the devil?

I say let's take back the day from the devil and worship God on that day too and forget about what pagans understand the day to mean and let's make the day mean a time to fellowship, have cookouts and Bible studies in Christian fellowship for the devil has no power over us.

If that is what you really do leading up to and including Dec 25th, then great. We treat is as any other day ourselves.

But, the grand majority of Christians do not seperate themselves from it but make an idol of it by conforming to the rituals and traditions that surround it. I'm surprised that you don't view this as an abomination against God by His professed people...
