• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
 • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

First of all let me state that I am not a 700 Club member. But as a christian for me to judge what Pat Robertson has done or has not done with his money is wrong. That was the meaning behind my last post. He will have to answer in front of the Great White Throne for any wrong doings. If he tithes his 10% of the millions he has accumulated, then more power to him. Thats more money for Operation Blessing to use. If he hasn't, then he will have to answer to God for not using his money and talents to further Gods purspose. Can we all say that we have used what little money we may have and the things God has given us to the utmost potential. I consider myself to be a pretty strong Christian, and I can honestly say that I have not lived to the fullest potential that God has blessed me with. And in Robertson's defense, at least there is someone on TV pushing Gods message and trying to further his purpose, whether it may seem to some to be all a con.

It's the 700 Club. What did you expect?

I knew that he had outlived his usefulness when he started having wingnuts like Reinhardt Bonke and Benson Idahosa and people like that on his show.

Let's face it, for a Christian to go to the 700 Club in search of sound doctrine is like going to Rosie O'Donnell for weight loss tips.

I read the above in the above and was very shocked. Not shocked in finding out the different levels of donations to the 700 club, but shocked in judgemental accusitory tone of the whole thing. I then went to register so I could reply and was shocked again when I had to click that I agreed to the rules to register because rule 2.3 says You will not post anything that puts down or belittles any Christian group or denomination.
I don't agree with everything the 700 club does, but first of all the amount of money that you give is for God and to further his glory and to serve his purpose. To expect anything in return whether it be cd's or a pin is contradictory to the bible. You should give to God and not expect anything in return. The only thing I see wrong having watched the 700 club myself is that during their pledge drives for money they flash on the bottom of the screen the persons first name, city, and donation amount. This is wrong in that we should not let anyone know how much we give to God because it can lead to pride which is one of the seven deadly sins.
Luke 6:37 "Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
38 "Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you." NKJV

although we are not supposed to judge one another as individuals, we are certainly called upon to discern the wolves among the sheep. Wolves are those who preach for money and don't really care about the sheep. The do not judge passage immediately segues into this subject.

MAT 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

MAT 7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

MAT 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

MAT 7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

MAT 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

But, if you donate to the 700 club, you're not giving it to God; you're giving it to Pat Robertson.

The 700 Club's Operation Blessing was the first charity on site in Sri Lanka after the tsunami with $800,000 of aid like rice, water and tents. What on earth do you people want?

While their charitable efforts are good (at least as far as I know), I sometimes get the impression that they are merely a method of getting more people to give moeny. Watching parts of their telethon last weekend, I was struck at how they are presenting God merely as a tool to get what one wants. The reports of his financial shenanigans with the Family Channel as well as of how he treats those working with him convince me that the money will go to his personal engrandizement. Even the money spent charitably looks like a procession with trumpets.

MAT 7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

MAT 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
There are many scriptures that talk about false prophets:
Deuteronomy 13:
1 "If there arises among you a prophet or a dreamer of dreams, and he gives you a sign or a wonder,
2 "and the sign or the wonder comes to pass, of which he spoke to you, saying, 'Let us go after other gods'-which you have not known-'and let us serve them,'
3 "you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams, for the Lord your God is testing you to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

Deuteronomy 18:
20 'But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.'
21 "And if you say in your heart, 'How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?'
22 when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.

I John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
2 By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God,
3 and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.

Now do you really think Jesus was talking about Pat, or someone like the Antichrist.
Why doesn't Pat just quit and live in his million dollar mansion the rest of his life in luxury?, instead of spending most of his time being a false prophet and witnessing to people and trying to get them to pray and give their life to Jesus.
Yes there are evil people out there and we should beware. But I think people get tired of hearing Pat tell the truth about things going on in this country and the world, because some people can't stand hearing the honest truth, so they pick him apart and start worrying about things that are between Pat and God, like how much money the man makes.
