Yes, 1000 yrs is but a day to God. However, don't be so quick to discount the relevency of the possibility of the end times as being close.

It is interesting--we know it is no "coincidence"

Amen - thats a nice knock to those who think science answers everything and that there is nothing in the bible that shows clearly we were told well in advance of science - scientific facts.

My main point and issue though is that is makes the verse seem pretty clearly literal and shows just how "created" we are and He knows it all and how sadly many are and will be choosing to worship the created instead of Him - like the verse in my signature - many will seek one who comes in His own name at the end and be deceived instead of seeking God.

my pastor was just teaching today how man prefers the lie to the truth (beginning with Eve believing Satan over God) and then referenced Romans 1:25

They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised.

Amen - so many anymore believing deception because it goes more in line with their world view when Christ said we are not to be of the world.

Matthew 24: 24. "For false christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
25. "See, I have told you beforehand.

Thats how bad deception would get - we see it all around us.

It's even more than that I think - it isn't just the false teachers (who certainly do exist) but includes churches who think they're doing the right things.
For example we look to our programs (a created being) to draw people in (consider how many churches "advertise") rather than being confident that sound teaching of the Gospel message will be enough. I think churches need to be very careful of all that we do

Yes, 27 December is the day and you'd think few people would have RSVP'd to attend, but noooooo. We're gonna have a full chapel. I might get nervous if I stop to think about it.

It's a Wonderful Life will be playing here sometime this week or by the weekend for sure. We had a rather busy holiday or else we would have already watched it.

Give me physics any day instead of chemistry. I need to be able to build it, break it or both to understand it.


As for the number 666, I've seen some mathematical gymnastics theories about the number of popes relating to the figure and tying it to a date. Of course, they had come to the conclusion that JPII could well have met the criteria. I guess they were wrong.

666? I believe it's symbolic for an incomplete Trinity. Of course, I'm just a lay guy and don't know much about theology. But, to make the Revelation a cook book for the "end times" distracts from the major message; the saints persevere to the end, until the New Jerusalem is given to us, and we are transformed to be fit to live there.

It says in relevation that the beast will be given the power to overcome the saints specifically.

Revelation 13:4. So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?''
5. And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months.
6. Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven.
7. And it was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation.
8. And all who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

This to me is also one of the pointers to a pretrib rapture - the bible also says that the gates of hell will not prevail against the church. The church wont be here - but there will be saints made after the tribulation starts.

Don't know if this helps, but I believe the Lord led me to the only other place where 666 is mentioned, 1 Kings 10:14, and it is a reference to money.

The weight of the gold that Solomon received yearly was 666 talents
