What amazes me is the number of people who have certain verses in the Bible Memorized and ready to be thrown out in any context, yet these are the same people that have no clue from where the Bible came or the Socio-cultural-mythological influences on the writings when they were made.
Without this understanding, Revelations becomes a mystery and most people do not understand it.

Some translations I have read do not say it is "it is a man's number" but simply "it is man's number". Could 666 / the beast simply be everything that falls short of the glory of God? Man's world? A world that has rejected God?

Yes, I agree that it seems like 666 is the "trinity of this world's totality." But Jesus Christ said that to be in the spirit with him is to be at emnity with the world. So you may be right on this one friend.

In the worldly political perspective which I myself think that the book of Revelations is speaking about, there is a man who was the beginning of a Tribe of Isreal that don't believe in Jesus Christ and don't believe in anything other than life in this world. They don't believe in the spiritual heaven that us Christians following Jesus believe in. This mans number is 666.

Nero was most likely dead when Revelation was written.
